Not to get all technical on you, but Apple has pattented their idea for integration of this technology , not the technology itself, which is being developed by
Jefferson Y. Han at NYU, who holds a full pattent to this technology (FTIR). Basically Apple has plans to use it, but didn't come up with the technology. It's pretty amazing stuff as are most of Han's concepts.
I think this will be the future of home computing and will change computers and the way we input and intereact with programs forever. Imagine your entire desktop (meaning the actual and spacial surface area) is one of these screens. Imagine playing RTS games on it, holy carp that would rock!
