Tested out my 3m filter theory. So far looks very promising.
One problem was that I forgot my PS for my video camera so no video on the screen. It's pouring out so I'm not going back out there again tonight.
Here's a nitemax lying on the dash near the base of the windshield.
Here, I'm using a piece of the privacy filter to reflect the image. Still quite a bit of ghost.
Here, I took another piece of privacy filter and put it rotate 90 degrees to how you would normally use it and layed it on top of the LCD. Like I thought, does a good job of filtering the light

(At the expense of a little light output)
Another plus is YOU can't really see the lcd either.
On another note, I found a source for real and
cheap HUD glass and maybe some films to
possibly help with lcd brightness problems or at least help with upgrading your own backlights
