I have done some installs in boats in the past and my customers have been pleased with the out come.
I did notice while down at the marina that a lot of people are using car audio equiptment in their setups and everyone I talked to seemed happy with their installs.
I guess they type of boats you are installing these systems into will make a huge difference. The installation's I have done in the past were all done below deck using my standard product + a lot of silicon. The touch screens and monitors were all left below and I have not had any reports of failure.
The main use of these systems where internet access, video and music. I have not found a good nav program that I would want to install.
The deep cycle marine battery's hold a lot of juice enough to run an MII and 10.4" screen all day. Most boats have multiple battery setups + alternators to recharge.
Just my 2 cents
