No because all that does is fill the space essentially. Does Nothing. The whole point of having a 24pin connector is so that it has a more beefy ATX connector. Basically, just plug in the 20 pin to the 24 pin adapter, and monitor the voltages. If they start dropping, or if the CPU has SpeedStep, then if the CPU load goes high and it freezes or restarts, then you will need to get a real ATX version 2 PSU. Most new ones are hybrids that have a snap on/off piece that goes on the 20 pin to make it a 24 pin. Dedicated lne back to the PSU though.
