Okay, as to the power issue, one last question. Once you turn off the ignition, and shut down your computer - would the serial/USB scantool not loose power as well? Would this not then require you to disconnect once you started the computer up again? This is assuming that the OBDPro is not disconnected physically from the car or the PC.

Really don't worry to much about it, I will order one when I get your email and test if out

No problem I don't mind the questions (I'll probably regret saying that). Actually there is always power to the DLC connector even when you turn the ignition off so if you leave the OBD connector plugged into your vehicles OBD port it will always be powered on even on ignition OFF. The OBDPro does consume a small amount of power but I leave mine plugged in in my vehicle and it has not drained my battery even after not having used the vehicle for 3 days. I have not measured the current draw but that's something I will do soon so people have an idea of how much power it consumes.

Now if you yank off the DLC connector while your OBD Program such as scanmaster etc is running your scanmaster program will probably give you an error saying unable to connect but that is to be expected since you powered off the interface. In this case you will not have to disconnect the OBDPro just restart the OBD software on your PC

Not sure if this helps?

Thanks
Paul
