xcode is included with mac os. Just pop in your os x install dvd and there should be an installer for xcode right there (no reboot necessary). I wish i could program, but i cant get my head around all the code. I mean I can understand the code well enough, but what kills me is how to know where to put code in the right place and in what order etc, for the thing to work and function... bah gets me all tied in a ball just thinking about it lmao .
Anyway yeah awesome job Aychamo, and other brothers in crime, for this great app .

I think he meant like the input fields, like if you went to Google.com and wanted to enter a search term. Or enter your username when logging into mp3car.com
That's a really good idea!

Man, I was the same way. It took me forever to get started on Mac development. To me it seemed extremely confusing. All of these "layers" and "models" and "object oriented programming." I still don't really know what Cocoa is (LOL).
You just gotta jump into it. Apple has a lot of documents on their developer.apple.com where you can learn about Objective C & Cocoa. And they have lots of sample code. It's a lot of **** to take it in at first. Even simple things like connecting strings (like "Hello" + "World!" = "Hello World" takes a lot of effort: NSString *firstString = @"Hello"; NSString *secondString = [firstString stringByAppendingString:@" World!"]
And then it gets complicated with things like bindings, etc. You really just have to jump in. It's not really that difficult. I've been a "programmer" since I was in the 6th grade (with my trusty Turbo Pascal 6.0 compiler), but I really just started Mac stuff. My first program was a little POS flash card program I wrote last semester.
But when it comes together, & clicks, you can really see how great of a developing environment Apple has given us. Once it clicks, you'll wonder how you ever did anything without Cocoa, etc.

At 900+MB it's painful, but go download it from developer.apple.com. Anything you have on Disc is going to be out of date (I believe 2.3 just came out the end of last month?).
Cocoa programming with XCode and Interface Builder are somewhat strange to get used to if you aren't familiar with something similar (I wasn't). Check out the books from Big Nerd Ranch.

Yeah the NIB stuff is goofy to get used to (I still have trouble with it sometimes, and we won't talk about array controllers ).

I just ripped a DVD, when I try to play it, it opens DVD player and runs from there, no internal controls are visible. This is a TS file. Then I tried to run a quicktime file and it went to a black screen but when I tried to use the controls, none worked, not even the exit button, nothing ever played either. I then tried a WMV file and that did the same thing. What am I doing wrong? What format do the files need to be in to use internal controls?

What kind of quicktime file was it? Was it a protected video file from iTunes? Does the WMV file play OK in QuickTime player normally?
Re: DVD player, I posted somewhere a while back that for the most part, DVD's will just playin Apple's DVD player. I could write DVD controls built into AMP, but to be honest they would inferior to Apple's DVD player.

I just downloaded and tested it out, I was going to take some pictures too but there was too much glare; I'll take some tonight. I like the floater screen, but there are some problems with the new version. I ended up going back to 1.0 until they are fixed.
First, when you are on the music screen and you click the album cover to bring up the floater it comes up and then auto hides, which I want it to do. The problem is if I click the album cover again to bring the floater back up it won't auto hide like it's suppose to; it just sits there till I hit the x or the big album cover on the floater. This is the only time that I can find so far that it doesn't auto hide.
Two, the videos don't stretch to full screen anymore like they did in 1.0. The video is even with the bottom of the screen with 3 black borders on the other sides. I've checked the settings for bothe this and the autohide and everything is set accordingly.
Another video problem, the controls don't work at all. The only one that works is the slider. The controls also act funny sometimes. I'll touch the screen and they will pop up and they will come up for about a half of second and close again with out me touching anything. They just like flash on the screen and then they are gone. This only happens sometimes where they flash like that, but the never work. The two times I tested I had to pull the power on the computer and start over cause there was no way to exit the movie.
The last thing I have come across so far is I'm having a problem with the music importing. I tries three times and everytime i do I click yes and it just freezes there. I wait awhile figuring it will kick in but it just sits there, then the beachball starts spinning and still nothing. I didn't just wait a couple of seconds either. I had to pull the power on these attempts and restart again.
So for now I think I'll stick with 1.0...the only thing it's really missing is the slider, which is nice, but I can live without for now.
One last thing, after going back to 1.0 now I tried to import music and it froze again. I don't know what happened, I just imported last night and the only thing I have done since then is upgrade to 1.1.
Thanks

I did not have this problem with the new version however....

Yeah, I had this problem too... but next time instead of pulling the plug... force quit... press the apple button, option button, and esc. The equivelant to crtl, alt, del on PC

i only have a playstation mini keyboard, no apple or escape button
Also for aychamo, if you do implement an on screen keyboard, it would be nice if there was a way to disable it. For those of us that have keyboards.
Thnaks Again

RE: Movie controls. Big "Whoops!" You're right, they weren't hooked up properly. To be honest, I found out this weekend that my fiance, of over a year, who went to France a month ago to visit her friend "Julie" has actually been living and sleeping with a guy over there that she met before she left for "vacation." It's amazing how ****ty a girl can be. My brain isn't working really well the past few days. I'm just trying to stay busy so I don't have to deal with the broken engagement. Sorry.

This is now fixed.

Oops again. This is due to a combination of reasons. The first is when I switched over to QTMovieView instead of NSMovieView. Second, I was working on this at about 4:30AM after I found out about my fiance. And third, I was implementing the movie slider thing where you can click through the movie positioin, and I fell asleep on my couch in the middle of coding it, and I woke up and I magically had finished the code for the slider, and I compiled it and it just worked (LOL, it really was magical, I don't even remember programming it. I just woke up and it was finished!!) I totally forgot (actually I have no memory of it still) that I had taken out the entire part that resizes the video. Apparently I deleted a whole section of code, but it didn't raise any compiler errors. Very weird.
EDIT: I seem to recall now that maybe I was thinking "well, the program is designed for a specific size, so it should just be the size" or whatever.

This *should* work better now that the buttons work in the movie control. I think the problem is if you click on the screen too many times in too short of a time, the timer gets confused.

If the beach ball is spinning, let it keep going. Sometimes when it gets to playlists, it looks like its dead, but just let it keep going. I've *never ever* had the importer crash. Just let it go until its done. It's slow as **** right now.

This is an embarassing release.

Have you played with the current implementation of the OSK? You can access it by clicking on the URL of the WebView. I think it does a great job of getting the job done. The good thing is does support if you have a normal keyboard. You can just click on the URL, it pops it up, and you can start typing normally, or use the keys on the screen. I guess the good thing about it working like that is there is some "short cut" keys on the OSK also.
