OMG. Just downloaded AMP and ran it for the first time on my PowerMac. Dang. Now I'm gonna have to upgrade my Mac Mini in the car to Tiger, because I simply must have this as my front end. This is the real deal - it looks amazing. Great job!

[QUOTE=snoe]So I played around with the amp source all weekend and it was really fun playing with cocoa and getting different things working.

Some things I added.
  • Progress bars on the import screens.
  • Hotkeys for the griffin powermate (pressing option-P plays/pauses, option left/right go to previous/next song, i couldn't get space bar to play/pause like in itunes )
  • Modified the album view to group albums just by name - if there are multiple artists show the artist under the album art as eg "12 artists" - clicking into an album with multiple artists allows you to pick the songs by individual artists for that album name or all songs by all artists for that album name.
  • Modified the artist view to include an ALL option - clicking that will list all songs in the database. clicking on an artist and clicking the ALL option will list all songs by that artist across multiple albums.

I'll comment some of the stuff I did in the code and post it tonight or tomorrow, but there were some fundamental changes in the coredatamodel and the importitunesxml method (and other bits and pieces in appdelegate).

so what happened to these changes? I'd like to see them implemented into AMP!

Well, I've actually arleady implemented half that stuff (1&2). I don't like the idea for #3. And 4 is a good idea that I haven't done yet. I'd be interested to see what he did for option 4. I have a quick, easy method in my mind, but it seems to be really pathetically inellegant.

I'd love it if you made #3 an option that we could choose in the preferences or something.

I know that I personally have several albums I listen to that have a variety of artists. I want to listen to the album itself, so I've had to create playlists for these albums.

Hey guys

I just wanted to show you what I've been working on. I know I haven't released a version of AMP in a while.. I've been working on a lot of different areas of AMP, ie, quicker importers, XML imports, better graphic routines for grabbing the album art, etc. Also this utility module, and a plugin manager.

I'm posting some screenshots of the "disk utility" module from AMP. It's fully functional as of now. I may go ahead and release this version of AMP without the plugin manager, as that's still a bit of work left. I've rewrote the plugin stuff too so it's really easy as a dev to make anything for AMP..

Anyway.. I'm trying to keep the same look & feel for AMP.. Notice the new buttons on the scroll bars for up & down.

This is the "main menu"..

A simple set of disk utilities, as requested by someone.. (dave?)

The media importer.. Lets you import music/movies/photos from an external source (ie jump drive, hard drive, DVD, etc)

Music file importer screen

Photo file importer screen.. Notice how you pick the album you want it to be importer into..

And the upgrader.. Its pretty cool. You give it the new AMP path, and it copies it over and restarts AMP.

ANyway... I hpoe you like this

I continue to be impressed by this software. Keep it up.

[Insert obligatory "Make it fullscreen at 800x600" comment here]

Edit:

Is the link one the first post the latest edition? If it isn't, maybe edit that post and always have the newest one at the top? This bad boy changes so much and so often, I want to have the latest edition. Thanks!

Ran into a strange issue last night with the last version (no mods done).

I updated iTunes to add some songs and change a play list. I reran the import and everything looked fine. When I played the play list, it appeared to be my entire library (or at least a lot of stuff that shouldn't be in the list).

I double checked iTunes and the playlist didn't have the songs that were being played. I reimported from iTunes again and that took care of it.

No idea what happened, but thought I would pass it on anyway.

I've had this happen as well. I've been pretty busy, so I haven't had a chance to test my theory, but I believe that it did this to me after I updated with iTunes open. I'm not sure if I was changing things while iTunes was open or not. But I know that the second time I imported, I made a point of closing iTunes, and I had no problem. Also, I believe my iPod was connected at the time of the first import. Maybe that's the problem... food for thought, if someone has the time to try a few of those combinations.
