i don't even have a car computer but i am a graphic designer and photoshop dude (done some final art retouching on ads that have gone into big pubs). so i'll offer up my services to you guys if you need it. there are some interface tweaks that i think would be helpful especially in light of the new "unified" interface that apple is using now.

Hey man!
Thank you very much for the offer! Is it ok if I PM you with some things?
What kind of ideas are you talking about, in regards to the new look Apple's put in some apps?

sure. pm away. mostly just finding a way to have a designated area for some common controls. the controls all look nice right now but some of them get a bit chaotic as a cluster. look at apple's tiger version of mail where they clump some of the associated buttons together.

gnat, how do I display the time so its not in 24hr mode in your version? Also, the autohide does not work still if the mini album art is touched in the lower right corner. It does work if the clock area is touched though.

Check out the OSX Hints article I mention in this post.
I'd have to look into the other issue, but one of the memory slots is dead on my PowerBook so I won't be doing anything except using a web browser on it until I get it fixed

Another quick comment, the way you shrunk the now playing window looks good if you are in the music section of Amp or even the Video section. It fits right into the one section leaving the other buttons exposed. However, when not in these two screen when it pops up it looks like its just off center; it doesn't look very good. I'm not sure if I conveyed what I'm trying to say very well, but if you go in to a visual for instance and tap the screen to bring up the now playing screen you'll see what I mean. Or if you are on Amps main screen and tap the clock area you will see what I mean.
Also, about the clock, I tried doing what the article said, but can not get the clock to display in anything but 24 hour mode. It was weird too, because when I installed your first version the date and time in 24 hour mode was displayed. I installed your latest version and it only displays the clock in 24 hour mode. Try as I may though I can only get 24 hour mode to display.

Yeap, I understand. It's something worth looking into.

Hmmm, Are you sure your edited the "Medium" time setting? I don't think it is the default selection when you open the form. If you edit the other (Short and Long) settings it will not have any effect.
If you are seeing HH:MM, that is the default if AMP can not find the setting in your global preferences. If there is another default that people would prefer, we can certianly change it.

I am seeing HH:MM, why would Amp not be able to see my global preferences? I'd prefer a default of H:MM w/ either am or pm.
Thanks

I've fixed this, and a few other bugs. I've made a slew up updates, and I just need to resolve one issue which is pestering me before I can give an update.

I've fixed that (centered) as well.

I have no idea about this. I don't use the clock. I will look into this and see what exactly needs to be done.

Hmm.. I changed my default to h:MMa (so like 11pm is 11:00pm), but I realy don't use the clock. Maybe the best thing is on the config screen to have a few of the more popular presets, with an option to use the one from system preferences?

It's not that can't see the global prefs (hopefully), but that it can't locate your time key in the prefs.
Do you have XCode installed? If so try this from the command line:
open ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist
That should open Property List Editor.
Click the triangle next to "Root".
Look for "AppleICUTimeFormatStrings" and click the triangle next to it.
If you do not have "AppleICUTimeFormatStrings" or there is not a sub-element named "2", that is why AMP is not displaying your clock setting.
You can actually set the format there if you would like.
I have attached a grab of both the Property List Editor window showing how my office Mac has it's time set as well as the Customize window for the Time Formats in the International System Preference on the same system.
Hope this helps.

I would prefer use the System Prefs myself. It has a nice little GUI that takes understanding formatting strings out of the equation. As it is fully customizable, it also keeps us from having to keep updating the "popular" presets (given such a small group of users i'd be surprised if we didn't find at least 10 different prefered formats if everyone chimed in ).

Hey guys
Just wanted to give an update.. I'm home on break. I only get about 6 days off every 4 months, so I've been enjoying them. Seeing old friends, etc. Most of my programming has been late at night when I come home (perhaps a bit inebriated) and when everyone else has passed out.
.. but that isn't to say I haven't been doing much I've completed the Plugin Manager/External App Launcher (I figure no one will ever really develop a plugin.. lol) It works really nice, is simple, and it will hopefully please you. It's super simple to use, and really does what you need. It's pretty neat, you just select a program you want to add, and it gets the info it needs, etc. It "just works."
Also, I've added a lot of little visual things to the core of AMP. Dave and I both agree about really trying to nail the looks of AMP. Also, I've added a little feature which I'll leave as a surprise, but I'll give a hint that it was something that Raceer discovered a while back). And there are some new visuals, and some updated screens, and some other toys that I'll detail when I do a release.
Hope everyone is doing well!
