yep every time i import. and yep i did delete that plist file.

the slideshow is pretty neat.. i like it, but the visualisation.. it would be awsome if it were the actual iTunes visuals. not the quartz thing. because it just spins, no beating to the music .

I'll see what I can do about iTunes visualizations. I liked the artistic look of the Quartz ones. Maybe make it a selectable option.

Is anyone else getting the crash after music import like rdag? I can't seem to duplicate it yet.

well nothing has crashed for me at all with the new update. However, i did notice this kind of odd thing when I import my music library. This thing will pop up and let you know what songs are being updated (a progress bar/window), but when it is all done it does not go away unless i click somehere on the screen... not a big deal but sometimes im not sure if its really done or anything...

Yeah, I get that occasionally. It seems to have something to do with the time it takes to save the database. Usually I think it happens when I'm importing other music, and then go click on other windows, etc. I think

So, at this point, what do you guys think AMP needs to more functional in a vehicle environment?

I can do the iTunes visualizations too.. But they won't respond to music. What do you think?

I'd like to see GPS integrated with Google Earth, that would be neat!

I'll look into it. I did a little research on Google Earth, and it's apparently written in some type of Qt portible framework, which wouldn't make it inherently easy to communicate with. I found some utitility, via google, that will import your GPS device with Google Earth. But, apparently, you'd have to map out your entire trip before hand to get all the good views? I don't know. I know nothing about G Earth (downloading it now for the first time)

Wow man, that would be awesome! If not google earth though how about integrating roadnav into AMP? It has turn-by-turn directions and can plot where to go. Google earth does not have turn-by-turn so i dont know how useful it could be anyway (although it has much better directions to getting somewhere).

lol, everytime I check the forums I get nervous thinking someone will have posted some huge bug Thank god it's not like that!

Well, it depends on what you mean by integrating. If you mean just load the program, I can do that and have it up in 5 minutes. But if you mean like have a miniature GPS window, and all the controls, it will take some research. A lot of the problems is that these cross-platform programs are written (obviously, by definition) specifically for the Mac, so they don't take advantage of some of the great Mac things, like being able to communicate with other programs.

The easy way to communicate with other programs is via AppleScript. I never really used it before, but I'm picking up what I need as I go along. (AppleScript is supposed to be easy, but I think it's a PITA, all the little english devices you have to use, etc). RoadNav isn't AppleScript-able, so I have no real idea how I could integrate it. The best I could figure is have it run in a smaller window, and give myself some pixels on the side of it to have the AMP controls (like so you could quickly jump back to do music, etc. You know what I mean?

I think what we are talking about is having AMP be able to communicate with a GPS receiver, take that info and turn it into something RoadNav or Google earth could use to tell what your position is...

Hmm. To be honest, I know absolutelty nothing about the state of GPS & Mac environments. What are the current GPS options for the Mac? Can GE / RoadNav integrate with any GPS receivers now? It seems for GE you have to have the pro version or whatever to do that? I think this http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/maccar/71801-new-mac-gps-google-earth-program.html gets around that? I'll have to play with all that and see what's going on.

I'm sure I can do something like what you are talking about, but I don't want to say any specific time I'll try to get that done. I need to learn a lot about it first, and get myself a GPS unit. Can anyone reccemend one?

I have a question. For anyone using AMP w/ radioSHARK.

Since AMP remembers whatever volume you set it to, I assume you'll set the volume of AMP to be the ideal volume for you. So, when AMP starts radioSHARK, I have it set radioSHARK's volume to max, because I assume that radioSHARK plays out via the system audio output, and thus its' volume will be appropriately modulated.

So, does it sound inappropriately loud since I set radioSHARK's volume to max? Or should it have a seperate volume control? (Seems redundant to me -- but then again I have no idea how it sounds)

First i wanna say aychamo, u are doing a fabulous job!!! We all know the mac has a lot to offer and you sure are showing it.

When running AMP, wouldnt it be better when selecing songs/albums/artist in the list windows to be able to single click and ahve the song start playing instead of selecting the song and then having to press the play button? Just something fo you to think about, other than that I LOVE AMP!
