Hey!
Thanks for the kind words. That's a good idea. I just worry if you hit the wrong song (while driving down the road, etc), then you'd have to hit back.
But.. I suppose if you hit the correct button, it's only one button press. But if you hit the wrong one it's three button presses (one to select the wrong song, one to go back, then one to select the right song). So if you are more accurate than not it ends up being less presses.
What does everyone else think? Make it an option? (lol, like everything else -- I am going to do the iTunes visuals for you Shark, I've already got the interface, I just need to implement the option)

By the way, as you guys know, I don't even have my 800x480 yet (so soon, please, hurry), how hard is it to "double click" on a TS?

Hmm i kinda like the idea, it makes sence in such an obvious way you know? Maybe make it a selectable option in a preferences window? Then people can chose.

Ill take your exams for you, and lots of other things....
just do one thing...
OBDII support
oh god please, this is a top notch project. If RadioShark can be implemented for the few who use it, I think OBDII is for everyone with a 96'+ car...
AWESOME, keep up the good work.

just one comment from what i've seen. it might be nice to shade out or fade to transparency the top and bottom of your lists. right now if a list item is on the edge of the display area it gets cut off sharply. fading the end to black (like a shadow) or fading to transparency might look a bit nicer and it gives more "feedback" that there is more information in that direction.

Hey guys
Need some input:
For Playlists, how should that work? Where should you click to get to them? It's getting crowded in the music screen. But it's gotta be there somewhere.
AMP will import the playlists from iTunes. Should it just list the playlists? And if you select the playlist, it will start playing it, and allow you to go back to looking at pictures or whatever other **** you're doing (when you should be driving, lol)
Tonight I had a little free time so I figured out how to do the playlists, it should be pretty simple. I added in a little "auto" playlist just now, like in iTunes, when you play one track, if you just let it sit there and it finishes the track and it goes to the next track. So if you have a CD in order, (by track number), AMP will sort it appropriately and play it in that order, without any input from you. If you want it to stop playing, just hit stop, or play any other song. It's really passive, and it works really well.
While bug testing it, I put on an album (Sgt Pepper's!), and then I turned on the visualizations. It really pleased me because AMP finished the first song, continued displaying the visualization, then the little transparent window that pops up when you play a song popped up on top of the visualization, showed me what was coming next, then the window went away, as it should, and the visualization played on, uninterrupted.
It's really pretty cool. I imagine that would look nice in a vehicular environment.
Does anyone know of any really nice Quartz composer (.qtz) visualizations that modify themselves to match audio playing on the computer? Like iTunes' visualizations, how they move with music. I've found a couple, but they are pretty damned lame!
(Oh, I don't think I ever mentioned this. If you have an album in iTunes, and you don't have anything set for "track number", AMP will just sort that album alphabetically. But if you have the "track number" key set in iTunes, it will sort the album according to the track numbers, so that it preserves the original order of the album.)

okay, after staring at the screen for a minute, the only place I can think for it to go is inbetween the back button and album button at the top, I know it's be a tight fit, but logically it makes sense, now if you cna get those aqua buttons I'm talking about and make them more towards the middle of the screen for the play controls, I think it would look fine...
just my 2 cents...

another thought, have it go into the visual mode automatically after the song plays for 5 secs and then put the playlist button in its' place under the album button. Visual mode could be set in the prefs area, on type, speed or whatever other parameters you can think of.
Also another idea, use the same buttons you have on the left side of the screen, for album, back page up and down for the player's controls on the bottom, but see about giving them an aqua "translucent" feel and change the colors of each of the buttons. i.e. green for play, black for stop... etc...

AMP is awesome !! Keep up the great work. Its nice to see an app that works like it should on a mac !!
Like the quartz stuff too.
rdag: I noticed in case you have issues you can re-import music to fix your particular crashing issue. I had similar errors and fixed by re-importing..dunno why at this stage. Also missing some album display but dunno why for now.
NOT FOR CONSUMPTION UNTIL EXAMS FINISH :-(

With the music player, my wish list :-)
- one click to play a song
- controls to skip to next song
- selecting/sorting songs album, playlists, genre
- shuffle either via album, playlists, genre
Therefore the buttons could be
BACK
SHUFFLE (prob a preference ? rather than real estate use)
SONGS/ALBUM/ARTIST/GENRE (sortable via preferences, alphabetic, date added, played etc)
PLAYLIST
SORT (each click changes as above from alfa, date, whatever for each of song, album, artist)
SEARCH ?
VISUAL (option via pref to auto turn on as above after preset time)
PAGE DOWN/UP
May I suggest following ? MOVE/implement on the other side with the scroll bar. Click on bar down
you go one page down, hold and you gradually increase speed of scrolling in either direction...either scroll individually or pages ?
Whereas the controls would be
FF REW PLAY STOP/PAUSE NEXT PREV
Movies would have similar options/controls
thoughts/comments ?
