Why does no one ever recommend:

OBDII support

I mean music, dvds, games, radio, wifi, all well and good. but this is a CARputer, yes? Lets incorporate the CAR into it?

OBDII support brings alot more to the table when it comes to the things AMP would be able to do.

pyobd unfortunately is all I can find on OSX side (eventhough python aint OSX)

I agree. ODBII is something that should come into play at some point.

It is much harder to write code for hardware if you don't have said hardware though (this would also apply to GPS, XM, etc..).

Also there is the issue of integrating it into the code base. I know it will hurt the users to not get updates for awhile, but I really think that we need to stop development and clean up/redesign the code. No offense intended to Bobby (this is his first App, and my ideas about it come from years of experience), but right now AMP is very monolithic in how it does things. This makes it harder and uglier to do things that it wasn't originally designed for.

The good news is that Bobby and I have been talking about how to clean it up, we just need to determine the best method.

Hell no there's no offense! I completely agree it needs to be broken up. I should probably upload my current version of AMP (with the new random code, progress indicators on import, and the file importer), and the source, and then start the work of breaking it into manageable units, and then work on features.

This will be good for everyone because it will hopefully lead to a leaner, quicker, and better functioning AMP. (And it will be less of a headache to add things in!)

I have no problem waiting awhile for other "modules" to come into existence. If I am waiting for a better, smaller, quicker version to come out. The version that is out right now still blows everything else out of the water. The only things I would like to see are an eject button, GPS, and ODBII support would also be nice, but I am willing to wait for these.

This application is awsome and does everything so well already, that I can still use this version to run my mac until another comes out.

I say: take your time, improve the code, that way changes in the future won't take as long to come out. It will probably be easier for third parties to come in and make plug-ins for it as well.

The latest Amp release is great! I would love if it had a graphic equaliser or even presets, and i think that the volume control is a bit awkward when driving, you have to first tap the volume button then tap up or down, i think just an up and down permanently on screen would be a little easier, oh and would love it to be in 800x600.

Other than that it is almost perfect.

Some more visuals maybe , naked ladies, cars, etc...

Im not asking for too much am i?

Great work keep it up

I agree with you on the 800x600. I'm thinking of migrating the whole app over.. Would anyone have a problem with *not* running their carputer in 800x480?

lol @ the naked ladies. Perhaps, in the future (this is the wishlist thread!) I can link visuals to photo albums, and you could have a photo album of your nudies (probably 50gigs right?) or whatever and it would just transition between them (as when you hit "Play" on the photo mode.)

Space is the issue there. But possibly on the floater that you can bring up that shows the song info and controls. There is extra room there.

Speaking of the floater.

I played with the NIB a bit this evening, here is a screen grab of what I was talking about the positioning for the floater (currently it covers the time ). It obviously has enough room at the bottom to extend to the bottom of the screen to incorporate full volume controls.

By the way, I like how you do the positioning. Not the real way to do it, but a nice simple solution

Interesting... I never thought of that!

Since I still don't have a touch screen.. Do mouse cursors show up on a touch screen? Or is the mouse cursor absent? If it's visible, does it just move to wherever you click? Or what?

I suppose I can just hide the mouse cursor when in visual mode. Good catch, I honestly had never thought of that.

Howoever.. I won't touch that until after Wednesday. I had a huge physio test today, and I have a huge pathology test Monday (over ateriosclerosis, bone diseases and pulmonary diseases), and then the hugest micro test in the world. (no **** - over 100 pages of **** to just straight memorize, by WEDNESDAY! check it out: http://www.aychamo.com/amp/micro2test4.doc -- just three weeks worth of material!)

In fact... If anyone sees evidence of me working on AMP before wednesday, please make me stop!!
