Mobile phone use in AMP2?
Can we expect anything like a phonebook in AMP 2.0. There has been some writing about BluePhone. I tested it, and like the possibilities. But the interface is for car use not usable ( http://www.mirasoftware.com/BPE2/features.html )
I would like to see a simple phonebook list (just like the album of artist list) and a dial button. Maybe it can use Applescript to dial it within BPE and make the connection.

I'm going to add a vote for using VLC as the core video player. Quicktime is just so weird - you have to pay to go fullscreen, and I just found out you also have to pay to playback Mpeg2 video files. WTF?
VLC is great because it will play more formats out of the box.

Qt fullscreen isn't an issue with AMP. It uses the QuickTime frameworks to play video, in full screen. The only time it has to load QT itself is for iTunes protected files. Those files, sadly, VLC can not play.
I have, however, already added an option to either use the internal video player, or external. So if you want to use VLC, that's fine, but it's up to you to figure out the best way to control VLC (since you may or may not be using a touchscreen.)

I'll re-submit my wishlist idea for Gamma control built into AMP.
Using the two apps previously posted, I managed to come up with a night Gamma that worked quite well and fits the screen dimming requirement that I needed. However, you have to launch the app and load the profile you want, then activate it.
I tried using GUI scripting in Applescript to get this to be automatic but you can't select the file and load it. Besides, it ought to be part of the front end app anyhow.
So, my request is that Gamma control be added to AMP. Automatic screen dim should take place based on sunset/sunrise if GPS is available. Alternatively, you should be able to input your lat/long manually and the calc is made from there based on clock time.

This is why it might be nice to have a real plugin interface, I would think it would be easy to write a plugin that made gama adjutments based on the time of day. A lot of other requests on the wishlist thread are also small adjustments, a plugin interface would be perfectly suited for this.

so make one, he is doing the best he can with his schedule and people throw all these ideas at him but they never do anything to help. He has ask repeatedly for help because he is busy with school but it is always the same. people ask and nothing gets done.

I'm sensing a little hostility there, not to be mean or anything but first of all this is a wishlist thread it is here to let alchamo know what his audience wants, if we lied and said nothing then it wouldn't be as succesfull as it is. Also, I CAN PROGRAM small little utilities, like a phidget interface, a gama controller something like that and thats why I am asking for a plugin interface. You are correct that alchamo cannot please our every need and also everyones needs are different. With closed soucre the easiest way to participate is with a plugin interface how else do you recomend that its possible? Plugins will help ease alchamos work load and allow him to concintrate on the major features and general appeal of amp while we can all get what we want via plugins. So in the long term it is helpfull.

aychamo - have you considered doing hot corners for volume control or mute functions? Sometimes I'm listening to music and I'm sitting in the wardriving screen or something. When I get a phone call I have to fumble around to get the volume down.
By the way, I think I've given up on XCode. I had high hopes of also making a bluetooth headset emulator but I'm not smart enough.
However, my offer to make an AMP website stands if you're interested.
