wishlist suggestion
some good ideas in this thread! Here's what I'd like to see:
- GPS integration
- Bluetooth support for hands free telephony
- ipod support (accessing music/videos from connected ipods)
- playlist support for videos
- "next" buton for videos to play the next video in the list

if someone can make it apple scriptable then you can use BluePhoneElite with it. That will solve your hands free telephone problems.

Crossfade on demand
This is probably impossible if you aren't using your own mp3 engine. but crossfade on demand is one feature i would love to have. so when i want to move to the next song it's not abrupt. also volume matching would be great here as well.
now i found this app called "Ask the DJ" for the mac. Though the interface is lacking, it's a pretty slick little app, does basic beat matching and crossfades on demand!

Crossfade on demand: being able to hit next and have it fade into the next song.
Check out the following: http://www.wildbits.com/askthedj/
The interface isn't the best, but it does beat matching, tempo detection, volume leveling, and crossfade on demand.

Equaliser?
Hey,
An equaliser would be great to have in Kindling, even if it is only presets from itunes or something, some way to adjust the sound, just treble and bass adjustment would be cool. I think in car you need to customise the sound for differing music, rock, jazz, dance, drum & bass etc.
An a graphic equaliser on screen would be great.
Keep up the good work.
How do we make donations?

speaking of equalization...
i've always wanted to be able to have a custom EQ per song that is remembered when i dial it in. So if i lower the bass on one song the next time it plays it brings that same setting back.
it sucks when you have big subs and one song has lots of bass and the next song has none.
(the alternative is a multiband compressor, but i think this could be a cool solution as well)

God isn't that thing awesome? I love how they used the brushed perforated metal along the bottom of the screen (the same as when you are adding/removing widgets.) That would be great for a "widget" bar. Man.. It's time for a UI overhaul!

lol while we're making wishes can I just say it would be sweet to use the iPhone as a bluetooth remote for you're car. It could interface through amp/kindling and controll your music or other content, at the same time it could work with my plugin for phidgets and controll lights, locks, possibly even the startup relay on the car. If we ever get decent GPS software you could even track the location of your car on your phone for security or when your in a large parking lot. That would be sick. I hope they release a developer API for iPhone soon!

Well thats interesting... with one of the plugins that controls switches or maybe something new what would be super, super, SUPER awesome would be if your car doors would unlock when the computer detected the iphone (of even any phone) via bluetooth (~30ft)! I know this is completely unrealistinc for something like this, lol but that would be f-king awesome.

a bluetooth proximity sensor to open a door is def possible... but i'd rather go with a dedicated RFID solution, it's more secure than bluetooth. the issue is. either way you go the computer has to be powered on the entire time. drawing from your battery... or can macs wake over bluetooth...
your apple remote can wake the mac. but well.... that's not secure either
i'm happy with plain old keys. give me the tech once i'm inside the car.
what i need is a mount in my car for the iPhone that swivels for the different layouts based on what you are watching... and allows you to touch the screen easily without taking your eyes off the road too much.
