AMP2.0 Screenshot Development Thread

Hey guys

I'm wondering what scroll bar you guys like better. The old one is rectangular with the gradient, this one is "round-oval" without the gradient. What do you like better?

(Also note the weather.. I just put that in tonight, so I haven't tweaked the fonts, etc.)

Oval and no gradient is better: keep it simple: it will run on a Mac.

Just two personal suggestions...
- don't use the 4 corners with playing indicators they could be useful for recalling other functions such as recalling Mac OS X functions and putting sliders
- the now playing writings seem to little...
also the slider beside the track to select seems too thin for manouvring it with a touch screen unless it's a simple relative position indicator inside a long list...

Let me preface this with the statement that I think AMP is awesome. It's a fantastic software package and I'd love to see it improve.

So my few cents....

Is there really a need for a digital AND analog clock? Seems like it's just killing screen real estate.

I'd be in favor of moving towards a more "Front Row" appearance to standardize things. So that would involve the horizontal white line extending across the entire screen and being more at the top.

The scrollbar is too thin. Standard OS X / Front Row one is wider.

Is the orange highlight changeable? What was wrong with the reverse gradient that Front Row uses? The rectangle you use also doesn't have the same radius curve as your scrollbars or the rest of OS X.

I mentioned this is another thread, but I'm a graphic designer so I'd be willing to help with some of the design elements. Let me know what's involved. Or if there's a way to "skin" AMP I'd be happy to design a new skin for it.

hey! thank you, that's the feedback I really like, and I think all of your points are valid, and will be addressed

I've learned a few things Here is what I have now for the select bar

I've got it to render pretty damn fast, so it's completely usable, and I really like it. (the white part used to be a white->gray gradient, but it just was too slow and made it ugly to scroll)

a friend mocked up that blue bar up above, and the above is the picture of the implementation of the mockup. i hate to toot my own horn, but damn i think it looks gorgeous!

i think the blue looks wicked, much more inkeeping with the mac colour scheme for the itunes icon than the orange!..

We need more people posting on the AMP threads. We have to show support for AMP. It's the only Mac solution.

This looks really sharp. I just about freaked when I couldn't find the AMP worklog threads. I am just commenting to let you know that I am looking forward to whatever you produce. Some kind of GPS that will interupt the music when announcing turns would be nice but I know that is a lot of development to come up with. Looking forward to AMP 2.0 and good luck.

Yeah, I'd love to help. Hit me up whenever. tom [at] pacyk.com

The blue gradient looks a lot sharper, but I would increase the height if you could. You may end up having to increase the margin around the top and bottom of the highlighted element, but right now, the text could use some "breathing space", so if you increased the top and bottom padding inside the gradient I think it would look killer.
