hopefully this latest version is working for everybody.

So now whats next?
1. First of all are there any bugs with the current software?
2. Has anyone tested the LCD song info output?
3. Are there any other features you would like to see in the plugin?
4. What other phidget devices would you like to impliment?
5. Should each device have its own plugin?
6. Anything else? feel free to let me know

what I would do is lay it out like a grid(very similar to googles "customized" homepage) so that you can drag and drop or just select the type of phidget you wan there and the name of it. get what I am saying or did I not explain well enough?

I have a question about the window relays and buttons you have already made, Ben.

Is a seperate relay and button needed for the up and down function of the windows? So, for a 4-windowed car, all 8 outputs will be taken by the windows alone?

Thumbs up vacation

I have been in california for a weeks vacation, but I can't wait to get home and test out the phidgets plug in, Its a shame that the relays eat up all the ports on my phidgets board, I can still attach sensors but at this time, I think a temp sensor (showing what the current temp of whatever the sensor is hooked too) and a touch sensor (I think that would be a cool security feature, someone just TOUCHES the car, and it envokes a script, and turns on a light, or a camera, or other security device) but thats yet to come

Im having fun!!!!

Jonathan

PS: greetings from Cupertino (check out the picture)

Hmm not sure if I could impliment drag and drop. I've never tried. In general it sounds like you want one "homepage" ish place for all phidgets to spawn from. I think I could develop something similar using pulldown menus.

I'm unsure, if the switch changes the polarity of the window regulator then you would need seperate relays but im unsure if that is how it works. Check a helms maunual or just take out a meter and test stuff out.

The temperature sensor would be pretty easy to impliment, The more I think about it a grid/homepage system seems to be the way to go. I'm going to look into how dificult it will be to impliment. As far as the security system I have had a similar idea using a bluetooth phone as a key. And having a script run to flip relays when I am within a certain distance of the car. I think things like this are best as standalone apps that run in the background rather than with the main phidget homepage idea I'm starting to throw together.

maybe not exactly like the google page with drag and drop but when you click on a cell of the grid another menu pops up where you can select maybe a custom image(for windows up/down or just whatever you want)and the phidget you would like to use. I think that would be neat.

BUG Buggies

i got to hook up the Plug in,

position #1 and Position #4

1 2 3 4
^......^

5 6 7 8
..........

turn on but don't turn off.

there is no Save feature you have to quit it to save
(btw when you hit exit, it keeps the program running)

So they only operate one way? You'd need a seperate relay for window up and window down for each window? Or is this just for 1 and 4? Can someone test this?

Ya I don't quite understand this, are you saying that #1 and #4 don't turn off?

Also it should save automatically after you change the names of the buttons.

It is designed to continue running when you hit exit because it is a plugin that may need to be called again later. I'll make another button for quit.

Phidget Homepage!

Now that I have had some time to look at things here is a concept for the new PHIDGET HOMEPAGE!

There is 1 central screen that will take you to the relays, sensors, or a setup menu.

The relay page is the same as before, the sensor page can display raw data from the sensors or possibly interpreted data (such as mpg).

The setup menu is the brains of homepage. This is where everything is configured. You will be able to select the kind and purpose of each sensor, additionally you will be able to select different "background tasks" such as data to be displayed on an LCD, volume controll using the encoder (there is a thread about this in hardware dev.), controlling headlights at specific times (or using a light sensor), a basic security system or any other software interaction with phidgets.

The greatest part is that hopefully it will receive all the programs for its sensor data and background tasks from external modular plugins (plugins within the plugin!). This will make it easy to update and it will open up the floor for more ideas and possibly more developers.

This is an interface for cars however the setup menu is designed to be used with a mouse and possibly keyboard, if you feel some changes may make this more touchscreen friendly let me know.

Also, users may not want to always scroll through the plugin page in amp and then the homepage as well so phidget touch buttons could be configured as a background task to immediatly call the relay or sensor page.

Many of these concepts actually come from the first frontend that I ever saw for mac Tatraapp by Jirka. Also many thanks to Aychamo for amp and a great interface to start from
