O/S That fit's on 1 floppy! MenuET OS

Someone check this out and see if it could be used as a CarPC Operating System. It's really REALLY small, but has awesome 32-bit GUI and everything! Written in assembly

http://www.menuetos.org/

I've downloaded it and checked it out... Takes about 35 sec to boot off of floppy, takes about 3 sec to boot off hard drive!

Very cool. However, it looks to me like all development is via assembly language which honestly is a real chore to code (5 lines to increment a value etc). If they have an api and it could be interfaced with c or another structured language it would be great.

I saw this os on the Screen Savers on Techtv a while back. I haven't played with it but it looks really good from the picture I've seen of it. I don't know if you would be able to us it in your car, who is going to spend the time to code up something for it, if you have to use assembly.

Think about it though man, it boots in seconds. Imagine, it's like instant on! C'mon, that sure beats waiting 30-75 seconds for windows to boot. I dunno, I'm gonna look into it and give it a shot... To bad I can't program with assembly.

screw windows xp. Think about it, we could have like a complete car OS if someone could get on this and write something awesome. This thing is open source (gnu gpl I think) and everything... try getting that from micro$oft. someone who is awesome you would think could twist this os and turn it into something... Just a thought I guess.

You guys have to mean standby, there is no way hibernate can take 3-4 seconds to resume with 512MB ram.
