Autoplay error! A quickie i hope!
Has anyone else come accross this error?? how can i fix it??
On starting the latest version of autoplay on my incar box (win98 lite) and my laptop (win 2000 pro) i get the following error:
*********
Runtime-error
'-2005532292 (8876017c)':
Automation error
*********
However! i have taken this setup from my home pc (win xp pro)where i have been setting up the software to my spec and this works fine no error!
As far as i can see i have installed everything needed!

I have uninstalled everything related to Autoplay to start from ground level.
I downloaded the latest release of Autoplay and extracted to C:\Autoplay
Downloaded vbrun60sp5.exe and installed... no errors
Downloaded dxwebsetup.exe and installed... no errors
Downloaded DivX503Bundle.exe and installed... no errors
Ran install_libNT.bat completed successfully
Configured .ini's:
playlistpath = c:\autoplay\playlists\
videopath = c:\autoplay\divx\
mp3folder = c:\autoplay\mp3audio\
playlistfolder = c:\autoplay\playlists\
Populated the mp3audio and divx folders with media
Ran playlistbuild.exe ran succesfully
Ran Autoplay.exe
And still get the error:
*************************
Run-time error '-2005532293 (8876027c)':
Automation error
*************************
Any idea on this??? Love the software and really would like to get it to work!
Is there anything that i have missed out!

just replied to your email jakeep.....
well you say that the prior version works... the major change was DirectX GUI's.... so maybe that is the problem???
i noticed you used the dxwebsetup.exe, can you get hold of a full install of DX 8.1 - 9??? and try installing that. I have never used the DX9 websetup before, have always downloaded the full installers..

Yeah i had my reservations about that DirectX Setup myself as well! I'll give it a bash today with another earlier version.

Got another update for you if this helps.! Fingers crossed!
I have tried loading the DirectX 8.1 to see if that makes any difference but still the same error.
Also I have put the bogus playlist file name in and it gets to the point in the code where it checks for the playlist folder as I get the error message 'Unable to successfully load playlist files'.
And this is the same for the 98lite and the win2k set-up
Hope this sheds some light..

think I may be on to something with this problem!! have come across this on a web site:
DDERR_OUTOFVIDEOMEMORY 8876017c -2005532292 DirectDraw does not have enough memory to perform the operation.
Will follow it up!
However if anyone else has any info as how to rectify this..... dont be shy!

go Start>Run and type "dxdiag". this will load the directX diagnostic control panel. go to the Display or Graphics tab and run the DirectDraw tests to make sure DirectX is working.

are you able to drop another video card into your car PC setup (im guessing your laptop has no choice!)
even if its just a PCI card, might rule out your onboard video.
also maybe try updated video drivers? if they exist.

Yeah gonna give that a bash!
One of my mates has a video card lying around with tv out that he said I could have!! Bonus! (as I am currently using a VGA Converter, good for watching DivX in hotel rooms but not that sharp as the InCar Mp3 player)
So getting an upgrade! Hopefully, fingers crossed that should sort it!
Just a quickie though! What Video cards are everyone else using with Autoplay?? Just as a comparison.
Cheers for your help everyone!

 Yo uwill be happy to know that this is no longer a problem! Without even changing the Video card!
I decided that my machine needed a rebuild, spent an afternoon doing that, installed the latest version of Autoplay and Woo haa! works a treat!
Cheers for your suggestions everybody..
