on the web site http:\\www.sarinarts.com\autotouch.htm I've now posted Zorro's skin file seperately for those of you who would like it. Simply unzip it into the program files\autotouch directory and it should appear!

I'll be using this when i finish version2 of my car pc...

oh one thing i notced while i was playing with this on my desktop.... when in the navigation screen and you go to map to a destination... it almost seems like AutoTouch skips a beat because I see real quick it lists some of the turns and then gos to blank screen for a sec and then pops back in with the giant lettering for navigation... thoughts??

That flicker is map-point computing the new route, Apart from not showing the window I can't make ths stop happening, nature of the beast.

thats fine... its not a big deal just wasnt sure if it was just a fluke on my machine or was the beast's nature...

Keep up the good work.. hopefully i'll get off my a$$ and make a skin for it to match my car a little better..

I have played around with the skinning a little bit now.. but unfortunately.. I can only get the volume controls to work on the main page and not on any of the sub pages (music, navigation, etc)

I am pretty sure its not skin related cos i used the same controls as the main page in my XML file for the rest of the pages...

I am currently working on a chevy ckin.. similar to the brished metal ones for mediacar.. I will post it as soon as I have it done...

I believe the volume controls should work on the Main Page, and the Music Page, I'm not sure if it's enabled on navigation. Since I use a head unit it's not something I've done. If you PM me your skin I can take a look at it and let you know!

I'm so happy folks are creating skins for it now, it's almost like a real solution! Keep up the awesome work!

those backslashes should be forwardslashes (on the link).

Only if your browser doesn't automatically change them, mine works with either way

On the making of skins I should note it's important to pay attention to the case of the tags, especially attribute tags, XML is case sensitive so for the tags for the volume up and down should be VolumeUp and VolumeDown, I've confirmed they should work in the Music page, but are not in the navigation page. I've also confirmed some interesting stuff about the navigation voice but haven't worked out how I want to set it up to allow you to change it yet.

I found my problem.. I had the X and Y coordinates swapped around in my XML file...

btw.. i did notice that Mute didn't work on the music page... I will send a link to the skin as soon as I get it all to look the same at least... (next day or so)

oh and as far as the navigation vs music volume...

I want in the settings page.. for you to have a slider for each.. and then we just control the main volume with the buttons on the main page and the navigation screen... (If it doesnt work yet.. I will need track forward/back play/stop and volume controls to work on the nav screen)

Hope I am not giving you too much to work on...

I posted this in an earlier post, but I'm not sure it was communicated in many of the pages pressing F5 will reload the skin you've got currently selected so that you can edit it live and not have to restart, or reload from the settings page.

Yeah Mute doesn't work, the reason is you already have pause, and I thought why would you mute if you could pause? In fact I have to check that the mute on the main page actually is a mute, and not just a pause!

As far as that works it turns out that the Music is coming out of media player and plays at that volume, the Nav plays at it's own volume, and none of my volume controlling right now actually adjusts the main volume control in windows. So what is happening is if you adjust the volume on the music screen or the main screen you will not ever change the volume of the navigation voice. This is what I need to figure out how to handle. I guess I could just add sliders for each one, and these would be relative to the whole system volume, but then I have to decide if you're effecting the whole sytsem volume instead of just the playback volume. Make sense? I just haven't got the right feel yet, I've started the code twice and then backed it out.

I juyst though of something... in my brushed metal skin that i am working on... I will have space for 2 more buttons on the main screen... Can you possibly add code to minimize Autotouch if you hit either of the external1 or 2 buttons ?

And then call whatever app you have listed in the Skin's XML file for those 2 buttons... that way... people can add phonecontrol if they wanted.. or any other app if they wished...

This is a pretty cool idea, I'll look into it.

I've got the seperated volume for Voice Nav and Music now, and the app is controlling the main system volume instead. I've also added the abililty to have the transport buttons on the main page, but still have to do it on the navigation page.

The relative music volume although working only changes the music volume when you dismiss the settings page right now, so I'm going to make that happen in real time. I also want to make the voice one read a string in a voice so you can set them once and not keep flipping back and forth between pages to get things working. After I finish those things I'll be posting a new version to the site.

I have noticed that autotouch wont pick up my GPs if it on port 10 .... Mappoint will pick it up on its own.. but not through autotouch... I have doublechecked my skin.xml file to make sure it is looking for it on port 10... but so far i have had no luck...

I am hoping that somehow the code doesn;t allow a port over 9 at the moment.. cos i dont know what else it could be...

0.6 is up, with separate volume control in the settings dialog, and the addition of transport controls on the main page (I just realised navigation page doesn't have them yet, coming soon!)

Strohj can you PM me a location with your current skin so I can take a look at it?

I've used my GPS in Com5 and Com6 wihtout a problem, I'm wondering if there's an issue with the GPS library I am using (Franson), I'll have to check and see what I can find out.

I have now added the abilility to put transport buttons on the navigation page, and fixed a problem with the "My places" section of navigation so that it works properly.

The web page now contains complete revision history.

Strohj I've sent you a PM with some test code you can run so we can see where the problem lies. Thanks for the information that it works on any port up until 10, this is good to know!
