New revision of AutoTouch

Hi,

I've but a new version of autotouch out on http://www.sarinarts.com/autotouch.htm for you to play with. I've fixed many bugs, and sped it up a bit. Also the settings screen is now active, it allows you to turn on and off map rotation, voice navigation, and pick skins.

This app is incredibly easy to skin, with many options (check the web page) Zorro has already done one skin for it that looks really cool, so please check it out and let me know what you think

System Requirements: Windows XP, with Media Player 9 (or 10) and Map Point 2004.

how to configure music and dvd

This looks pretty good. Can you tell us how to configure the music paths and dvd application path?

Thanks

I tried changing the skin file for the dvd application(for using zoom player) but it doesnt work and I dont see any option for music paths.

I really like the look of this... Very simple, and large, easy to read info.

I havent checked it out yet (i am at work), but I really hope it has Keyboard support

The app path for the DVD Player is in the Skin file like this: <application path="C:\Program Files\REALmagic\REALmagic Hollywood Plus\station.exe" /> you can change it to run any DVD playing app you'd like. From there I use a remote control (USB ATI RF Remote) to control the DVD so I've not yet added any commands to control DVD playing.

For music, the app will simply pick up any songs which are in your Windows Media Player library, so add any songs you want there, and I'll pick them up.

What sort of keyboard support would you like to see? I've added only one specific key at the moment which is F5 for refreshing the current skin (this way you can keep changing the skin file and look at the results quickly)

I also need to do some clean up like making the keyboard default to the edit box, to make it a bit keyboard friendlier, but I always use the touch screen, my goal was to create a system which was entirely touch screen friendly damn the keyboards!

hmm. I changed the dvd program path to zoomplayer with its location, but it did not launch it. I will try again. Also anyway to make this program to start without mappoint would be nice...

I'd be very interested (as I'm sure would others) to know how you've got what appears to be proper navigation functionality from Mappoint!

I'll look into making mine launch windvd, and see if I can figure out what that issue is this evening.

I'm working on adding the new idea for dimming that I've seen on these pages, i have the code written, I just need ot add a UI for dimming the display, should be done shortly.

As for launching without MAPPoint I suppose I Could by not having a navigation form, I'm working on some thoughts for a plug in interface so that you could plug in the pieces you want, or write your own.

As for how I got proper nav out of MapPoint, well it took some doing but it's not as hard as it first seems

Yeah, i read through your site, and i think that your goal is not quite what i need - i want a media player entirely accessable by keyboard! Haha

I dont have touchscreen, and i'd rather be able to control my media with a numpad (mapped with Girder); as i will be able to do that without looking at the screen (same way i can use my regular stereo without looking at it).

I do like the simplicity of it. But do the modules run concurrently? (i.e. can you start your navigation, switch back to the menu and launch DVD to have both running at the same time (so you can switch betweeh the two to see how you are going etc))

Yes the modules run concurrently, you can be listening to music and navigating, and in fact if you are the navigation layer will pause the music to issue a voice command and then restart the music so you don't have to hear one over the other.

That's a great feature! I really like how Mappoint is now touch screen friendly.

I really like the Mappoint integration, any way to run this independently?
