mappoint oddities, anomalies, general weirdness...

okay, so let's say you are doing 60mph on Interstate... you hit "Go to my places" and then say "H", Home pops up... you hit enter... and voila... the system tells you to take a left/right onto a small road, then get onto the interstate... this happens about 99% of the time, based on what available roads are near the interstate... it is really annoying and you have to recalculate several times to get his work as planned...

any tips/ideas on this?? I know this isn't an AutoTouch problem, but this is the only front end using this mapping program... could it be due to an AGPS setting??

another thing, is that near my parent's house is a "proposed" road from way back in the 80's... the two neighborhoods that this would connect boycotted the idea and I promise as long as people (especially my parents) walk this earth they will never build this road... they don't want their street turned into a high speed thoroughfare... so the problem is that Mappoint and every other mapping software vendor seem to want you to use these roads, but Yahoo maps doesn't suffer from this problem... is there a way to report mapping screw ups??

This is a known feature of the mappoint SDK. Although you can choose any point as a starting point in the mappoint program itself. You can't programmatically create a route with a highway as a starting position. Since highways are limited access roads with the only places to get on and off them at on and off ramps, the only time it will ever start a route on a highway is if you are very close to an onramp when you start a route, otherwise it assumes you are starting from a location that is off the highway which should always be true if you use mappoint in the way it was designed to be used which does not include in vehicle nav.

GodOfCPU is correct this is a map-point issue. Where map point won't allow you to specify a highway as a starting point, I'd love to work around this but haven't found a way yet.
