Angry It worked for 24hrs

Well I manged to get freefone working along side the widcomm drivers and had the pc as a headset. So basically I dialled a number in freefone and the conversation came through the pc speakers and I was able to speak through the pc mic. Did it a few times last night and this morning, I even managed to navigate my voicemail by pressing numbers on freefone. I was able to get both a serial connection and a audio gateway connection open simultaniously using widcomm drivers 5.0.1.25.
However, then it all went wrong. I left the phone and pc connected when I went for a shower came back and the pc had hibernated. TUrned it back on and now the pc doent recognise the BT usb dongle. I actually think there is a problem with the stick as it isn't recognised by either my pc, laptop, carpc and work pc. However upon kickinig it around on the floor it worked for a moment then reverts back to the 'Unknown USB Device Message" absolulty gutted as it took me about a week of messing just to get the Widcomm drivers to recognise it in the first place.
Why are bluetooth devices and PC's soo pants in terems of disjointed drivers and protocols etc etc.

Dang, I didnt try kickin' it around on the floor, does an M80 taped to the DONGLE qualify!?

Belkin BT

I am about to give up. What gets me is BT works on one PC, and of course the one on the bench awaiting install in the car will not work. Connects fine,,, sound works for about 3-5 seconds then dead. BT is connected according to PC, and phone. No sound in phone so I guess it connected. Can disconnect and it say so. Widcom? Maybe I need to look into this? What is widcom? Is it by Broadcom? I have a belkin BT dongle

I cant seem to find an answer for this issue. Been spending hours and hours on this. It worked fine for over a year, then started getting the same issue you have.

Belkin USB Dongle Tried on home computer and carputer
Starkey 2.0 tried on carputer and home computer - Used this dongle fine all summer, then the issue started so purchased the Belkin hoping that would solve it.
Re formated Win SP2
Tried Legacy Drivers from MSI and Belkin
Called tech support both MSI and Belkin, they blame microsoft 0 tech support expertise
Disabled Microsofts bluetooth drivers
Installed then attached dongle
Installed attached dongle half way through install
numerous settings..

Vette are you running SP2? When you load the drivers do you ever get errors? You have to watch the screen closely during install to see it.

Yes, running XP, SP2 on the machine that has the problem. The machine that works is a 2005 Media Center version of XP with SP2. IF it wasnt a ton of work, I'd like to see if MCE would work on this one that has XP.

I'm not sure it gets any errors, although there's a bunch of New Hardware windows popping up during install. You are talking about the Belkin software arent you?

Kepp hearing about the Widcom drivers, but dont know what that is?

Do you have the option to pick up the phone?

When it passes the sound to the computer, do you get a message on the phone saying "Answer on the phone Yes or No?" Why I am asking this is I noticed that if I chose "no" the gateway would then hold and NOT hang up at 3-5 seconds. This showed it is the way the phone handles the transfer. So, if you get this message, start your serial connection, then your Audio Gateway connect it manually. Even if it looks connected (mine did as well) once you have the Audio Gateway up, check the Audio Gateway signal strength to confirm it is actually connected. If you get the "Answer on the phone yadda yadda" hit no.

Click on bluetooth places, view devices in range, (it will pick up your phone on the list, right mouse button in properties. This will show you what devices have access without asking for permission. Check off Audio Gateway and Serial Port.

Also, in the phone did you set it to always allow connection?

What phone do you have?

I finally fixed mine today, it was a combination of upgrading the firmware on the phone and a few other things. Some of it was the set up above.

No, i dont get that question asked. My main issue isnt anything to do with RR yet. I am just trying to get my audio gateway to work. I have a new RAZR V3 Moto phone. The Belkin Dongle works perfect on one desktop, and on the one being built for the car it connects, with audio (I press the END key and beeps), for 3-4 seconds then NO sound.
Yesterday went and bought a Kensington BT-USB Dongle, and it does the same thing. So, I removed my Sound Blaster Audio card and used the onboard audio, and it works. Something to do with the Sound card ... not sure what to do next.
What phone do you have?
Problem is my onboard sound is only 2 channel. Guess I can split it out for rear(subwoofer) channel(s)?
