Lilliput 7" Canadian Coast Guard Install

Looking to equip your yacht or sailing vessel with a low cost display option and not be ripped off just because you need a marine grade stamp? You aren't alone. Mp3car outfitted the Canadian Coast Guard vessels with the $239 Lilliput 629 monitors earlier in the year and we thought we would share some photos. These monitors aren't specifically made for marine use, but they do the job in an enclosed wheel house. Talk about this in our boat computer section or buy a monitor from our store here.

Out of interest, why did they want a 7" display? Surely it'd be more useful to get a desktop touchscreen display? It's not like they've not got the room there!

A larger display might have blocked the view of the windows. We can't see the whole wheelhouse, so there might be some other reason that a larger device wouldn't work.

I wonder why they go with a cheap made-in-china touchscreen LCD instead of something more industrial grade that can handle temperature extremes and the salty air? But then again, on alot of ship I notice they use standard consumer grade computers and monitors as well.
