Figure, I should chime in too
Been waiting to see if anyone would come up with a HD solution for quite some time now for the carputer.
I would be very interested in both testing and potentially purchasing such a solution.

Just to help encourage the development:
I would buy it if it were available.
Especially if there were a digital mod for it on Streetdeck.

Since it's an audio-over-usb device, I was hoping it would be plug and play under Linux. Using mplayer...
If the device follows the standard for audio-over-usb spec, does it pose a problem(Legal) for someone to use the device under Linux?
The USB spec for the HD radio unit is 2.0 right? I mess around with the wintv devices that were only 1.1 and their output was only around 12Khz. Sound quality sucked with wintv usb devices and audio-over-usb. The silabs usb radio gave me some hope for audio-over-usb. Output quality is excellent.
I would still love to buy a unit and beta test under Windows.

What is the processing lag time for Audio output of this unit. There is about a 2 second difference between a real FM Radio sound output and the Silabs radio output. This makes it unsuitable for using at Drive-In Movies.

Performance should be exactly the same as in the US. That is to say, if they build it correctly, it should be on par (or better) than an Alpine/Clarion/Factory head unit radio reception. Aus doesnt have HD radio. It's only in trial stages at the moment. And seeing as you are in NSW, you are lucky enough to be part of the trial. Otherwise, it will revert back to standard FM/AM reception - which should be fine if they make a good product

Is there any room left for testing downunder?
I'm willing to give this a go if you still need some testers, feel free to PM or email
Cheers

We except the performance and sensitivity to be on par or better then what is found in car radios today. In the receiver business they call the signal input and conditioning process a "front end." The "front end" on this tuner will use the latest technology. Keep in mind actual reception depends on a number of a factors such as the antenna, ground plane, terrain, obstructions and weather conditions. If all other variables are equal this tuner should offer equivalent or better performance then other automotive tuners on the market today.
