Applications are now being accepted for the paid HD radio beta testing program

We are now accepting applications for the paid beta HD Radio Beta testing program. We expect to gather applications for the next next month or two and then start contacting those who have been selected. Please read the whole application before making a submission as it provides answers to many frequently asked questions.

For more information and to apply please visit: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?s..._2fOUkug_3d_3d

Thanks!

So have to pay ~ $150 to be a tester, and you don't get the hardware included in that price

Where's the incentive to test?

I'm reasonably certain that the $150 is the cost of the HD radio hardware.

but it says on their page that you pay $150 to register as a beta tester and that you have to buy the hardware...

...maybe the grammar is wrong, maybe I read it wrong

Where do you see that verbatim phase?

At the top of the page it says
Quote:
Paid beta testers will be issued prototype software and hardware that will receive HD Radio as well traditional AM/FM radio signals on a computer. The hardware will connect to the USB port a Windows XP computer. We don’t support any other operating systems. This is a paid beta program, pricing has not yet been determined but we expect the price to be around $150 USD.

I'm not sure how that could be phased to make it more clear.

That's a estimated cost and yes it would include the hardware and software.

Im just saying that the bit I had a quick read of wasn't too clear about hardware being included in the $150 joining fee.

Ignore me! It was obviously poor reading on my part

Question Beta Program Questions

What is the typical turn around time on processing applications? Are you notified if you are declined or only if you are invited to participate? Has the program actually started yet, has any hardware been delivered?

Thank you

It hasn't started yet. We're still in the process of gathering applicants.

I think the FAQ answers this question pretty well. From the FAQ:

What happens after I submit my application? We will store it in a file for review. When we are ready to launch the beta program we will determine the most qualified candidates and notify them of their selection. As the saying goes: “Don’t call us, we’ll call you.”

What's the status of my application? Please understand that because of the volume of requests the Mp3car staff is unable to comment or check the status of a particular application. Mp3car will be unable to comment on why a particular individual was or was not accepted into the beta program.

No, it should get underway in about a month. Apply to the program now to be considered first.

If you are chosen as a beta tester and there is a change made to the hardware to improve quality or features, do the beta testers receive a upgrade or a new unit or are they stuck with the unit they have?

In the unlikely event that there is a flaw with the hardware we'll issue new hardware to the beta testers. I expect there to be some software/firmware updates which may include can all up updated remotely by the beta tester/user.
