Optimum connection from car pc to amp.

I intend to go headless and run my car pc directly to my speakers through a 41hz.com amp 9 kit.

I have read this thread and have determined that it says to essentially splice the output of the green jack on the sound card to each input on the amp.

The particular question I had was how many channels it sends out that way. I was wanting to support as many channel outputs as mp3 files would put out. If it puts out two channels, would the green audio jack put out two channels? If so, how? I was thinking that each channel would need its own jack.

The reason I am contemplating all this is because of all the hype over 5.1 surround. After doing some research, I have concluded that mp3 files most commonly put out two channels (stereo)(somebody correct me if I'm wrong), so it wouldn't really be necessary to accommodate more than two channels, since the mp3 files would only be sending out two channels anyway.

To sum up, how do I take advantage of the two channels sent out by the mp3 files? Do I need a sound card one jack per channel, or will a standard three jack on board audio from the motherboard work?

I run front sound stage only, essentially 2.1 sound. I use an Audigy 4 card and only make use of the front outs (well rears actually, as I use KXdrivers which swaps the outputs to take advantage of ac97) and the subwoofer channel.

I've heard (had) 5.1 in the car, it just doesn't seem to sound as good as a 2.1 setup (to me at least, in a car enviroment). Unless you're watching dvd's, I personally don't see a great need for 5.1 in the car. I listen to music when driving and I want the sound stage in front of me like at a concert.
2.1 gives me this. "I don't go to a concert and turn my back to the stage" is the concept here.

I am, however, considering installing a couple rear drivers to give a little "fill", but I'm not completely sold on that yet.

Personal choice rules here when considering 5.1/7.1/4.1/2.1 etc...........

Keep in mind, if you're using "downloaded" Mp3's, they're usually low quality stuff (low bitrate) anyways. Flac for me!

A decent sound card (most on board chips as well) will have at least a left and right channel from the front and/or rear output. Just grad a decent 3.5mm to RCA cable and you're "good to go"..............

What about the sub(s)? Does that need a separate channel itself or can it utilize the left channel (or right channel) as I have read?

Sorry, can't help you there..............don't know.

As I stated above, I use the sub-out channel on my card.
