The Chaintech AV-710 sounded real nice and is real cheap. With the right drivers it is very basic and reliable and will hibernate, too. It can do bit perfect as well.

Ohh.
Does the laptop have an optional SPDIF output? Sometimes docking stations will have it integrated.
Other than that, the only ones I know of are the high end Sound Blasters like Red is running. I really can't help you much there. You may have to search for it as I'm sure it has to have been talked about before.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here. Your docking station has a SPDIF output, so I'm thinking it looks like an RCA plug? If it was the optical (toslink) you would just plug a fiberoptic cable from the dock to the H701. Simple as that. If you have the other style SPDIF output you would need a small converter to go from the RCA looking plug to the optical style, then you would run the optical cable from it to the H701.
Or is the issue that you don't use the dock in the car? In that case I'm not sure what you can do. I'm not real familiar with laptop docks, etc...
SPDIF, BTW is the digital format of the sound. The H701 accepts an SPDIF signal in the optical ports. It would be nice if the H701 had both styles of digital inputs (optical and the RCA looking one), but it doesn't.
Turbo, that sounds cool to me. I just didn't want to be without mine for a week or however long. I'll PM you my address.

I'm not running a sound blaster in the car anymore.
In any case, it's the Audigy 2 ZS for notebooks.

I think someone in this thread was looking for the H700 because of the Red/Amber lighting...
Well, here is your chance. Not mine BTW.

Also, FYI mine looks more like an orange/peach color. I have n 05 Matrix and it doesn't quite match the AC controls.

That's similar to what i want to do:
Put the rux in the bottom where my cig lighter is. That way i can just flip the thing over and you won't be able to see it anymore. I think the rux will take away from the install in my car.
