Well, for passengers to play games and watch DVDs, and I suppose eventually kids.

I say "game console" because it is a power inverter with a game plate, with jacks for power and A/V, with an optical audio cable to plug in if possible. Therefore I can plug in any game system with A/V outputs, including PlayStation 2, XBox, Wii, GameCube, etc.

It has especially come in handy on long drives. My girlfriend was able to watch DVDs with IR headphones via the PlayStation 2 while I listened to my iPod via the Alpine Head Unit (DVA-9861). My friends were able to play games in the back seats with IR headphones and IR remote controls while we used the computer for music and navigation up front. It is a very versatile system. The key is the Clarion MSS430 multi-zone A/V selector. Each monitor can independently select an input

Maybe some one already asked this but is it possible to do a 2.1 setup w/ a 3-way all active setup in the front. Front 1 and 2 for tw and midrange and rear output to midbass in front?

Thanks /L

Sure, it may be simpler to have Front 1 and 2 for tw and midrange and Front 3 output to midbass in front. The .1 channel is usually a mono subwoofer channel. You can also set the sub to stereo and use it's output for the front midbass.

Are you running a sub or rear channels?

Thanx, exactly as I whant to do it, but is "front 3" the ch refered to as surround or back in the manual? Can I get 60-300Hz to that ch w/o using the "rear fill" funktion?

I haven't used my H-700 in over 7 months so I can't remember all the settings. There is no front 3, sorry about that. I think if you go into the input settings you can tell it you don't have rear speakers. Then the rear outputs can be used as midbass. It will do 60-300Hz. Even if they are set as rear, what's the difference? If your not using rear fill speakers them your not going to be using the fader. It will work just fine.

I know Red is using tw, mid and mid bass along with a sub. Try asking her for the exact settings. That's a pretty common setup, even though I'm not using it.

Your not getting the Surround Sound settings mixed up with the regular settings are you?

I'm using it in the same manner you're asking about. It can be done just fine.

I doubt it since there is no need for it. Just buy an adapter like we've already talked about.

I am posting this here, because I have a question regarding the PXA-H701 further down, but thought it would be best to explain my plan.

I have a 2005 Pontiac GTO, last year I had the local BB install:

Alpine CDA-9885

front speakers = SPR-17C

rear speakers = SPR-17S

rear deck subs = JL Audio 2x 8W0

Amps = Alpine MRP-F450 and a MPF-M450

Also a pair of tweeters in the dash, I don't remember what they are.

I am wanting to upgrade so I have bought the following:

Alpine IVA-W205

Sirius SIR-ALP10T

For the trunk a Alpine SWR-1042D and another Alpine amp MRP-M850

I will be adding the Alpine Nav unit PMD-B200

I am wanting to keep the previously installed speakers / subs and amps.

Should I add the Alpine PXA-H701 Audio Processor? Or anything else? Do I have the right stuff? Any other changes I should make?

Thanks, Tom

Are you asking because it is a question of money? Do you want to know if it's features are worth the $350?

Yes, definetely. The 1/3 octave EQ for each channel is almost a must for fine tuning the sound, plus the x-overs control is much better. In the hands of a good tuner it will make your system sound much better.

As for the rest of your system, it helps to hear it to determine it's weak points. I suppose it's OK, I would want more bass than 2 8's, but it's up to you.

wow... I know this sounds strange, but this is my 3rd attempt at posting this message, each time, after I select "submit reply" the page refreshes, and my message is not there.

Jason, Good info, thanks. My concern is not really as much about the money, but more about making the system complete and sounding much better.

I agree, more bass is needed. I currently have the two JL 8's on the read deck powered by an Alpine amp from the trunk. But I am also adding another Alpine amp and a 10" type "R" in the trunk.

It sounds like it's two thumbs up for the H701. Is there anything special that I need to let the installed know? Please review my equipment list in my op, is there ANYTHING else that I should get or change?

I'm not to savvy when it comes to car audio. I don't know what cross overs are or even do. I'm the guy that ask others for opinions and then researches and buys what's suggested. I just want to do it right the first time, or in this case...better the second time!

Any other suggestions?

Tom

Not a problem, I am hoping to get help with this, so I can order the remaining pieces, if needed.

Thanks, Tom
