Do i really need an amp?

Yea, do i really need an amp? I'm planning on using: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX External Sound Card.

Can't i just connect the wires from that to the speakers?

What are the pro's and cons of doing this?

Or a headunit with aux in capability.
But the headunit has an amp built-in, albeit a very low power one.

Well it is still an amp...

The question was not "do I need an external amp?" Go technicalities!

Ok so is it possible to take out the cd stereo system (sony mp-40) and replace it with the 7" liliput screen and place the cd stereo system in the cup holder area? Will i be able to get all the wires there? Am i better off just buying an amp? How much is that and how do i power the amp itself?

It's your ride. You tell us....
In all reality, anything is possible. Now, whether you're willing to invest the time, money and materials to make it happen is another metter entirely.

How much is an amp?!?!?!
You can get cheap ones for under a hundred bucks or get top-of-the-line sound quality and spend thousands. It all depends on what you need, what your budget is, and what qualities you want in an amplifier.

Seriously, if you odn't know how to power an amplifier, you're better off replacing your headunit with something that has an AUX IN (short for auxilliary input).

Do whatever you want. If you are planning to relocate the HU, then why keep it at all? The only reason to keep a HU is when you don't want to modify anything at all.

An amp takes power, ground, and a remote line. That't it. Some "premium" stock sound systems have external amps that you can connect with, but most are built into the HU.

For an amp with the same quality as the built in amp, it is like $50 on eBay.

this question was just asked (the thread is still on the first page of the audio sub forum) and had valuable replies. I know you're new but you should practice searching before posting and then if you need more info then post. welcome to the madness btw
here ya go:
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/car-...-need-amp.html

if you want a stock equivalent (power wise) then you should check out the sonic impact t-amp (parts express sells them) you can take the circuit board out of the plastic casing and it'll be pretty tiny so you can hide it anywhere..even in your pc case probably

In fact is really easy if you have some interest, and you love what you're doing, but men, you need to know who to install your system before you try installing a CarPc.

You should check at www.caraudio.com or www.bcae1.com and learn at least the basics of funtion and installation this way you understand what this people that will help us are trying to say.
