Opinion on Amplifier
Hi guys, Has anyone experienced with Diamond Audio or Phoenix Gold? I'm looking for 4-channel amp for my surround and considered JL and Alpine before. Since some people recommend some other brands, I would like to know about this two new brands for me.
Let's not talk about PG Titanium or Xenon since they're discontinued (coz some still recommend this to me). How the diamond audio amp sounds? I never heard of it and never tried it yet.
I do not know about hifonic or polk audio as well. If anyone knows something about them, feel free to throw your comment here...

Daimond an PG both good brands. The Blaupunkts are CEA2006 compliant so at least you know the specs aren't overated. The Velocity series seem to be built rather well but are power hungry. But really it all depends on your needs. At least you are on the right track. if you can find them locally I would give any of them a listen.

JL SLash would be my choice, they are never under rated, and good quality
I heard a lot of good things about Diamond too

everything audio wise is subjective, do you have a specific budget you're shooting for? or is money not an issue?

Thanks all, it seems that I have to listen to those choices myself. The most that I would spend is equal to PDX 4.150. If, and just if, I have no limit on my budget, I would love to go with Mcintosh...LOL...

shop around on ebay. there's a few Mc's being sold on ebay for pretty reasonable prices. If you REALLY want Mc amps, the smartest thing would be to save up.
I had a fairly small budget too but the amps fitterd my budget perfectly. Now if I didn't have the budget, I woul've just saved up. McIntosh amps, even the older onese like mine (10 year old) are still at the top of high-end audio. I'm not gonna say I have had lots of experience with that many brands, but I think Mc might be concidered as one of the most desireable brands out there.

i agree. if there is something you really want but can't afford (within reason) save up for it a longer and be happy instead of settling. Used McIntosh's aren't outrageously priced and if it's worth it to you then go for the gold. I don't have the hands on experience with that amp (heard them a few times but never owned one) but from what i've heard they are well worth saving up for.
Also, as long as we are TOTALLY of the orignal post :-) i suggest looking into some old Soundstream Ref amps. they are amazing for the money. If i ever build daily driver system they will most likely be included in my list of components.
