Question Bridged & non bridged, possible ??

well guys, i'm a total newbie, this is my first setup !
so i may ask weird questions !

here is my problem :
i have 2 channel amp
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WgnytKL...&display=L#Tab

it can be bridged, & i have a subwoofer (4 ohm)
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-d1SuvUJ...&display=L#Tab

i'm totally confused about bridging , i mean, if i hook up that sub to amp bridged, can i run my rear speakers on that same amp too ??

another problem:
i use an mp3 player, hooked to input of my headunit which is actually an equalizer
http://item.express.ebay.com/Consume...mdZExpressItem

how to make amp turn on & off with that equalizer ?
that "acc" or "remote" cable coming out from amp to be hooked to .... ??

sorry for not being short

any help much appreciated

thanks in advance

If you use a passive crossover network, you should be able to run your two front speakers and your sub off of one two channel amplifier as long as your front speakers and the subwoofer don't see the same frequencies. Where ever the two speakers see the same frequency, your impedance will drop down to 2 ohms. In fact, if your amplifier is stable enough, you might be able to run all four speakers and your sub from the one amp. Just wire in a resistor in series with the rear speakers to keep the sound coming more from the front. The reason I suggest hooking up your amp to your front speakers and the sub is because you will get better sound staging that way. Who goes to a concert and sits facing away from the stage anyway. You want most of your sound to come from the front and in your face not from behind. You won't be able to use the sub outs on your eq unless you use your eq to run your front and rear speakers and use the sub out to go to the amp and then on to your sub. Basically your amp will be dedicated to only your sub then.

get a 4 channel amp, you can briged the first 2 channels, and the 3rd and 4th channels you can run your speakers off of.

but the other way around, cause you want the best possible tuning options for you frontstage, and they're usually on the front channels.

But the x-overs on the front channels usually have a wider range. And that can be pretty important.

First of all, thank u for ur replies guys !!

let us get to my case,

this is exactly what i'm doing now !
& i'm satisfied with sound quality very much !!

but i already bought the amp !

well, now comes the last part of my question, how to make turn on & off with that equalizer ???

i tried to connect the rem (remote signal on) wire to the positive wire feeding the equalizer, & the result was
my amp is always on !!, so as a temporary solution, i cut that rem wire, made an on/off switch in the middle of that wire, so i can turn it off & on manually

i searched here in the forum, & almost every one suggest connecting that wire to acc. switch (keys switch) so that the amp gets on & off with the car
this is not good for me, why ???

because my car is a crappy one & its acc. switch only has two positions, either on or off, while in modern cars, that switch may have up to 3 or even four modes, so u can turn on radio & windows, while no electricity reaching the engine

sorry for getting a bit off-topic

but i need someone to let me figure a way to solve that rem wire issue

How do you turn the EQ on and off? Is the EQ hooked up to your ACC or some other switched power source? If the EQ does not have a power button to turn it on and off, then the solution that you are using now is the best and cheapest one. If your EQ has an on and off button, then try testing the remote wire coming from the EQ to see if you have power coming from it when the EQ is on, and no power when the EQ is off. If that is the case, then hook that wire up to your amps remote turn on lead or terminal. Your amp should have one wire that hooks up to the battery, another wire that hooks up to a ground source, and another wire that hooks up to a remote turn on source. When your amp senses a signal on the remote turn on wire, it should signal the amp to power up. Usually your head unit will have a wire that will send this signal to your amp to turn on. Since your EQ is not a traditional head unit, it might not have a wire that will send a signal to your amp to turn on. Instead, your EQ's remote turn on wire might be the same as the one for your amp. In other words, this wire would normally be connected to your head units remote turn on wire to signal your EQ to power up and at the same time, your head unit would signal your amp to power up through the same wire. Think of it like this, your amp and EQ always have power hooked up to it but doesn't turn on until your head unit is turned on and signals your amp and EQ to turn on as well. Then when you turn off your head unit, or turn off your ignition, it signals your amp and EQ to turn off as well. Otherwise they would stay on all the time. But like I said earlier, test the remote wire on your EQ first. If your EQ has an on and off button or knob, then it's most likely that your remote wire from your EQ will also have a signal that tells your amp when to turn on and off too. If this is so, just hook that up to your amps remote wire or terminal. If you need any more help just holler...

the equalizer has a built-in on/off switch

it's hooked to an always on cable (to be exact, my head lights cable, but i made a seperate heavy gauge cable for my amp, i can hook the equalizer to the latter instead)

what remote wire ??, i have 3 cables coming out of my equalizer:
red : +12
black: Ground
Orange : i think it's called power antenna, or something alike
all other cables are for speakers

I don't have a headunit ! u r talking here as if i have 3 pieces : HU, Amp & equalizer.... This is not my case i only have an amp & an equalizer !

I'm totally confused about that remote turn on thing !!!!!!!!!!!!

Try testing that orange wire to see if it has any voltage when the EQ is on and if the signal goes away when the EQ is turned off. If it does, hook up that orange wire to your amps remote wire or terminal and see if that works. If it does work, you should be able to use the power switch on your EQ to turn your whole system on and off. You should try to see if you can hook up your EQ (the red +12 wire) to a switched power source as well so that when you turn off your ignition, the EQ and the amp(s) all shut down as well without having to turn it on and off everytime you get in and out of your car. I don't think your EQ will draw too much power so it should work with a switched power source. Can't help you too much with finding a switched power source except to say by trial and error but some places to start would be your power source for your ciggerette lighter might be switched, try the back of your ignition switch if you can get to it. Also take a look at your fuse box and see if there is a fuse already labled for your radio and tap into that line. Good luck and I hope this solves your problem.
