CarPC audio help

So since carpc's usually have a computer motherboard, how would you hook up the audio? is there an adapter you can buy or what?

It was an answer, but not to the question you really wanted answered.

To use the on-board sound with the 3 plugs, you will need a 1/8" mini-plug to RCA type cable, connect RCA cable end to an amp, then the amp to your speakers. The power coming out of the motherboard simply isn't enough to drive speakers (it's made for computer satellite speakers which have an amp inside them).

Better this time?

Sorry, I know nothing about that system. My only advice (if someone with experience doesn't chime in) is to search on Mustang and PM some owners.

I've got the mach460 system. I've done away with the front amp (mach 460 has 1 amp up front for the highs/tweeters, and 2 in the rear for the mids/lows) and I'm using an aftermarket head unit with an aux input. Running the built in sound from the MB, speaker output, to the aux input. Works great.

For info on removing the front amp, making the mids/lows work correctly without the front amp, etc (cuz the input from the stock head unit to the front amp is a low level signal and the rear amps were fed from the front amp)... see the MACH 460 tutorial I have on the CarPCNetwork HERE. Using an aftermarket head unit negates the need for the front amp.

//dang it.. lol my pics are missing... I have to fix that real quick. :-\ sorry

You should make friends with the search function. If you're serious aboiut a vehicle PC project, you're going to search these forums.

A lot.

Well, if you go with aftermarket amps, you're going to pretty much rewire everything anyway.
Webmaster has been down that road, and is likely a valuable source of information. How much reworking of everything you choose to do is up to you, I'd think....

Good luck.
