was suprised that i didn't find anything on it on this site (i did search). was wondering what you all thought:
http://reviews.cnet.com/gps/jvc-kd-n...-32319693.html

single dinn 40 gig hard drive / dvd player with navigation and siruis/bluetooth capable for only 700 bucks!

my thoughts based on the reviews:
at first i thought the screen would be too small (3.5 in) but reading all the reviews that doesn't seem to be a problem (there is a video out though for people who have the space). inputting addresses may be a hassle because you have to screen, but the remote should take care of that i would think, since it has a rotary wheel. easy to install and no concern about powering and all those other technical issues (which some of you may find as actually being a con).
24 gigs free for music. i was always obsessed with having a touch screen in my vehicle, but would think that a scroll wheel might be pretty easy and fast to navigate.
also good that there would likely be no boot time or concerns about startup or shutdown. audio should be no problem and no hissing to worry about. has rca outs needed for aftermarket sound. transferring audio to the hard drive is allegedly quick. gps voice lowers music volume automatically when turn or direction is coming up.
bad sides: probably not upgradable. poi search isn't useful unless you know your city.

lastly, detachable faceplate!

i dont know. this seems like it may be a good option for some if not a lot. i think i may end up getting one.

thoughts?

I perfer a carputer. It's easier to upgrade or add-on new features and customize the way I like.

This would worry me:

One observation we made when playing discs was that both the discs and the head unit got extremely hot, perhaps due to our test unit being a preproduction model, but a noteworthy point.
