I think he meant to say: Size of about a deck of cards, so it doesn't take up much space, either.

:P I purchased a Hippo HiFi Bloat more than 6 months ago and I am VERY happy with it, awsome, reliable, fantastic quality and powerful as! I would recommend it to anyone who wants something serious. Good value too.

How does the RCA modified Bloat compare to the GIGAPort AG USB Sound Card (http://www.esi-audio.com/products/gigaportag/) for connectivity?

Clearly, the DAC gives superior sound quality but it only has a right and left channel, correct?

If you had a multi speaker setup, would you attach multiple Bloats to feed all your speakers? For example, in a 5.1 scenario, would you get 3 Bloats... 1 for the front left and right, 1 for the rear left and right and 1 for the centre and sub?

Can you then configure the sound drivers to output the different sounds required for 5.1 surround through the 3 different bloats to get 5.1... i.e. low frequency for the sub and mono for the centre and then separate the front from the surround etc?

Perhaps I'm talking complete nonsense and complicating matters?? It's just I have a multi-speaker setup in my car which is being fed by a multi-channel amp. If I understand things right, I would need to feed each channel their own sound and therefore, require multiple Bloats to achieve this?

It depends. Yes, you can use multiple Bloats. I know some people have configured this to work; it would be a somewhat complicated software configuration.

However, if you aren't putting true 5.1 sound in your car, but rather just have fronts, rears, and a sub, the amp should have a way to ake the single L/R input from the Bloat go to all the speakers. Or, what I do is run my Bloat to my actual head unit, and my head unit has seperate outputs for fronts, rears, and a sub.
