Noob questions on Car Audio

I need some help figuring out how to hook up my stock honda speakers to my mac mini. I've been looking at some of the other honda installs and just basic installs, and most people leave their headunit attached, but that isnt an option here, for my stock HU doesnt have aux inputs, I don't want to buy another, and I have no place to put it.

I've read about using an amplifier, but I don't know anything about them, let alone if the ONLY thing i need is the amp.

If the amp is the right route, I would like to find a cheap, small one. I don't need anything too powerful, but I would assume that I would want a 4 channel amp.

So, to sum it all up, How do i go from 3.5 mm jack on the mac mini to getting sound from my speakers? What kind of amp do I need? Where can I get one cheap?

Thanks a Million!!

You need some 3.5mm to rca cables. The 3.5mm end plugs into the mac and the other end goes into your amp. Then u get speaker wire which goes from the amp to your speakers. This link should answer all of your questions: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/faq-...tereo-amp.html As for where to get the amp, check out crutchfield or ebay. Make sure the amp isnt too powerful or itll blow your speakers.

Look on the back of the speaker for it's rated Wattage.
Most stock speakers are in the 25W-50W RMS range (each speaker)
Most stock HU ouput around 15W-45W RMS per channel (2 or 4 channels)

Dang, i was hoping i wouldn't have to take out the speakers to check. I'll check with Honda first, but if i don't find anything i will check the speakers. Knowing these are the stock speakers, will the rear speakers be any different than the front speakers? If they are, I'll only have to check one speaker.
