Reverb Coming from Carputer
Here's my setup:
2006 Ford F150
Gateway M275 Tablet PC running WinXP MCE
Gateway M275 Port Replicator
Audio Out (via headphone jack) runs to "Aux I" input on Pioneer DEH-P9800BT. Front end SW is RoadRunner. Monitor is a Lilliput 700tsv via VGA.
My problem is all of the audio coming through the CarPC seems to have a slight echo (reverb). I have tried several EQ settings on the WinAMP EQ, but none seem to even have an affect. Some videos are worse than others, but the worst one so far is a sporting event where there is a real reverb anyway. It sounds terrible.
Another noticeable problem that may be from the same culprit is in most videos, the voices are greatly overpowered by the background noise or any other noise for that matter.
Mic and Line In are muted. I'm running the FFDShow codec pack.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
thanks,
.brit

Do you have the same issue if you use a pair of headphones from the PC?
How about another audio source via the AUX in?
This information will help isolate "where" the issue is.
If the headphones have the same sound issue you need to concentrate on the PC side.
Same for another audio source and the Aux in line.
If the issue does not exhibit by isolating the systems It may be the audio cable or a poor ground.
Good luck and tell us what the final answer is.

It sounds like somehow you have your soundcard setup for surround sound and not stereo, and then are using the rear channels and not the front. Somewhere along the way you need to figure out why it is not setup as stereo out instead of surround out.

It sounds to me that you have the environment settings turned on. There are different settings like: arena, padded room, concert hall, hallway, etc. And those settings are affected by reverb settings. I'd tell you where you could check it in your audio settings but I'm at a work computer that has limited access to those types of settings.

Yeah, it's not winamp, but the sound card stuff. Like maybe a task tray icon can get you there.

I wish it were that easy. The m275 comes with a Sigmatel C-Major sound card. I can't seem to find any environment settings provided by the driver. I also have an Audio Advantage USB sound card. It works great and provides me with the settings you guys are talking about which obviously solves the problem.
I can't seem to get the onboard card to perform correctly, but it's not a big deal since I have the other card.
I appreciate the help you guys provided.
thanks,
.brit
