amp/sub combo

i'm new to the whole amp/sub world, and i'm wondering if i'll encounter any problems running a single 12" sub with 225w RMS power handling at 4 ohms with an amp that uses 500w RMS at 4 ohms.

sorry if its a stupid question but as you can see im still learning about all of this.

also, the amp is 2-ohm stable

nope, no problem, but... is that single sub of yours a single voice coil, or a dual voice coil.

Most of the more expensive sub's are dual voice coil, if yours is, and it is 4 ohms. Then you can wire it in series which will give you a restistance of 8ohms or in parallel giving you 2ohms.

If this is the case you have to look up how much your amp can handle at 2 ohms, but it is usually double, so prob. 1000watts ish at 2ohms so you're prob. fine
