2007 Silverado Radio Install

I"m getting ready to install a Kenwood DDX7019 into my new truck and would like to know if anybody has pulled apart the dast to get the stock HU out? Just looking for pictures or hints before I start pulling. Thanks.

I recently did a '99 (not done yet). The dashes aren't the same but based on the same design. For mine it was pretty simple. The bezel that goes around the radio/a'c/instrument cluster just pulls straight out. Sitting in the drivers seat, grab ahold and pull toward you. after that, there's2 plastic pices on each side the you must force open in order to get the Radio out. My A'c was just 4 tabs, had to push down the sides and it pulls right out, that's it.

You'll get it, it's a piece of cake

I actually just finished. I started in the upper right corner, pulled straight out then worked my way around. it was pretty simple. The hardest thing I had to do was cut a huge hole behind the radio to get my new head unit to fit. If anybody is looking I strongly suggest the Kenwood DDX7019, I love the unit and it's simple to use.

Congrats! I am going to have to cut the rear out of mine as well to fit the CD player in there because it's barely 5 inches deep at the bottom. I got a few pictures here of the current progress. What did you use to cut it, and did it work well? I'm thinking Dremel...

I have an 05 and was already to purchase a new HU, Amp, and sub until I was told I had to buy an aftermarket kit for my new HU casue the OEM one controls the air bags and once it's taken out there inoperable. WTF????

A) Jacking someone elses threads to get your questions answered is generally considered inappropriate forum behavior. Please be more considerate next time and start your own thread.

B) In many newer vehicles, the radio is used as a kind of hub if you will for many of the computerized and sensor driven functions in the car.

C) This is a CarPC forum. If you are looking for information specific to Car Audio you should follow the stickey that's at the top of this sub-forum.

Sorry for the late response. When I gut out the area behind the radio I just used a hacksaw blade. It was a real soft plastic so I was able to work the blade only with out the saw handle. It actually worked pretty good.

I didnt notice any attitude. And the point I think Red was trying to get across that I understood is that there is an extreme difference between an 05 and an 07 of that car. The 07' is a complete redesign from the earlier models and there would be few similarities

Just because you have the same model vehicle doesn't mean you should post away in any thread where someone is asking a question or looking for help with the same vehicle. The typical action is to start a new thread for your problem, especially when the only relation to the thread is the vehicle make and model.

You wouldn't find me asking about amp location for a 00 GTi when the original post was asking about how to remove the radio in a 04 GTi. They are unrelated questions and as such should be in different threads. The person posting the thread originally is doing so to try and get help with their question. By posting your question and trying to get help yourself while they are trying to get help, you're interfering with their goal.

I'm gathering you have not spent much time on forums in general because this is common courtesy in forums.

The infraction was worth a whole point, hardly anything worth getting upset about since it takes 10 points to receive a temporary ban...
