The K2P from Focal is very difficult to beat.

I've not heard the GTi series first hand, but I do know that they are great components as well.

I will say that you need to listen to these components on your own first before purchasing.

Each one will have a different sound and each one might sound different to you. It all depends on which sound you like.

I was Hoping You Would Chime in...

There is no were To Listen to the Polks here in Dfw.....

And the Jbls Use Alot of Technology From the Vertec Pro Line.

But I REALLY Liked the Focals...

Will the Focals Be Able To keep up with the monster in the trunk?

hahaha- will the Focal keep up...

Those K2Ps are little monsters in and of themselves.

Again, proper tuning will work wonders.

I'm not sure of anyplace here in the DFW area to hear the polks...unfortunately. I'm not up to par on all of the shops around here.

I've heard some of the Rainbow components with take a fairly good amount of input power, but I have no personal experience with them.

But, why limit yourself to passive component sets? Go active.

I can name a bunch of home drivers when properly used will sound just as good if not better than most prebuilt component sets.

Scanspeak, Peerless, Seas just to name a few.

Where are you installing the components?

Cool

Well...

I read Something From Eithier You or Red About Kick Panals So Im not going to be doing that....

I plan on Installing a 5 half to 6 half inch Driver in the door and a Tweeter in the sail Panal..

but if Kickpanals Will work I Could Do Bass Driver in Door, Mid Driver in Panal w/ tweeter in panal....

I was Planning on Using the M Audio Firewire 410 For my Sound Card if that helps....

I would Really Prefer a Componet Set.. Vs Active Raw Drivers

i agree with both durwood and red. if you can't listen to the components then I would definitely suggest going the active route. you can test out drivers in your car and if you decide you don't like them you can often times sell the component for little loss (if they are taken care of and not abused) and replace them with another driver to test out. Raw drivers; even after a couple of swap outs, will cost you less then a quality set of component speakers

btw...nice choice on the sub :-)

in that case i'd add dynaudio to your list of selections. if you find the focals a little too accurate or bright then the dyn's may be a good alternative becuase they tend to have a more laid back sound

hmmm.. it could be, most people stereo type the dyn's as warm while the focals being bright but it's your ears. i heard a dyn component set (running active in a honda accord) and it sounded beautiful to my ears exactly what i would have wanted.

It could be that in car audio you often times have a tweeter mounted off axis and that may tame some of the brights...

red?? durwood?? help!

One of the things I've found is that those who complain about the Focals being bright are those people who listen to them in only one instance and most of the time they're on-axis.

The Focals need to be off axis. Most people apply conventional thought processes that work for other brands to the Focals only to find that they don't sound right.

The Focals need to be completely off axis to reduce some of the harshness, from there, it's all about tuning, as with any system.

also, I'm not sure where the comment about kicks came from?

I'm running a set of 5" Be subs in my kicks...

it completely depends on your set-up as a whole.

We're running the Be tweeters, 3" mids, and 5" subs....if we had picked a component set this probably wouldn't have worked as well.
