I had two rockford fosgate 1001BD amps, each wired to it's own Pioneer TSW-2000SPL, and it sounded great, over 150dB. Sure SQ suffered, but it wasn't an SQ or SQL setup.
Which btw had the bd sync system that allowed two amps to be perfectly synced in mono operation.
It's not hard if you have the right stuff..
hate to be a ballbuster, but over 150db in a trunk car? with the subs firing back?
can i ask what meter you used?
to the op: the type r's can handle 1000 watts each. Read around a bit a lot of people have been successful with 1000watts to the sub without problems, as longa s you aren't giving a clipped signal
Sundown has a great saz1500d amplifier.

It was like 3 or 4 years ago, but when I worked at a car audio shop, they hosted a local IASCA event, and the SPL meter they used was checked by an IASCA rep. A couple weeks after the IASCA event, I had my system set up and they tested it according to IASCA rules. I can't remember the exact number but 151.2db sounds like what it was.
It doesn't even matter though, because to verify this, I'd have to go buy my old car back, and install the exact same set-up, and have it tested again. This was with the seats up, and speakers in the stock 6x9 holes (some people try and cheat and have the speakers removed...)
I am going to get my new set-up tested which I believe is about 140-143 db, but I could be way off. I'll try and record a video of the testing.

Well the pioneer 2000spl subs with the 2 1001 class d amps should be around what you said, I believe those subs had set the record 1 year at 161db.
