New radio installed in tahoem audio problems

i installed a jensen vm9312 in my 2001 chevy tahoe everything seemed to be working fine but there was no audio. so i hooked up factory radio up and it worked fine. what i found was a second wire harness which seemed to be for the onstar created this problem. i searched around and found that i need an adapter for the onstar. my question is do i really need this? i dont care about onstar at all. these adapters are really expensive, is there a short cut around this?

i installed a hard drive radio in my sisters tahoe...the second harness has one wire that seems to be the "remote" wire for the factory amp. I just ran the remote wire from the radio and tested each wire( on the second harness) until the sound came on and just tap it.

it just needs the remote wire like a aftermarket amp. its powered up through the batter but needs the remote trigger to know when to turn on and off.
