Power Issue?

Hey, im new to this website and I need some advise about my car sound system.

I have 2 12" mutant 800watt subs in a sealed box. Powering these is a fli 800 4 channel amp. The 2 subs are bridged. I also have a 2 channel 480watt amp powering 2 sony 200watt 6x9's. Each amp has its own 10gauge power cable, rca leads etc.

Im having two problems... When I turn the volume up quite high, the power light on the amp that drives the 6x9's bassicly turns off and on with every bass beat. And the same with the fli amp driving the subs. This happens when the engine on also becuase I got pulled over by the police not so long ago with them telling me my lights keep dimming on and off and not to use my stereo any more! And the second problem is, is that when i turn the gain up on one of the channels on the fli amp, it works fine and sounds good.. but as soon as i turn the other channel up also, the other sub gets alot qieter. So i turned my head unit up, and I got alot of distortion from the subs, and the power light turning on and off once again! These two problems are most probly linked though i would of thought?

I have had people telling me all diffrent things such as I need diffrent live and ground cable, a diesel battery, more batterys, a power capacitor... Its doing my head in!

So can anyone help me with these 2 problems please! Cheers!

800 watts rms?

first, 10awg isnt the best guage of wire you should be using. I suggest at least 8awg for that kinda power.

2nd, sounds like you're expecting more power out of the amp then it can make & give. turn them gains down

3rd, your lights are either dimming from not enough power or an electrical strain from the low impedance. if its not enough power try doing the big3 then replace battery, then the alty.

I really want to identify the "real" problem at hand.

Your stereo system isnt satisfying you enough. So the problem is you dont have a loud enough stereo.

My suggestion would be to step your game up and save a bit for some better equipment & switch to a ported box(if you have the space).

Why go ported? its all about efficiency

oh if you do get more powerful equipment(amps) then you'll probably need to do some electrical updates. batteries, alty & and wires.
