HELP..CarPC in 2006 dodge and keep rear VES (dvd)

have been looking around on this forum and others for an answer and have yet to find one. PLEASE HELP

i have a 2006 dodge ram with the rear VES (dvd player). i have been wanting to put a pc in the truck since i got it...

when i started looking into the info i found that everywhere i looked said that if i do so, or even change the head unit for that matter, i would loose the rear DVD... seems they changed the way the system communicates in 2006.

this is the only thing holding me back from the pc project.. i even have a pc here ready...

anyone know of anyone getting past this issue???

when all is said and done i would like to put touch screen in the dash and have the rear dvd to integrate into the CarPc just as it does with the stock HU...

at this point i am near willing to accept no touch screen but just car pc and HU if i can keep the DVD funtions...

PLEASE HELP...

It could be as easy as changing some of the wiring from the factory HU to the DVD. Or you may have to relocate the factory headunit. It all depends on if the transmission of some of the lines are CANbus based or not.

I think it is mostly because of the canbus system that controls the on off functionality of it. If you want to keep the rear seat dvd isolated just for the rear seat passangers, just relocate the factory radio (as pancit said). You could also do a one of the peripheral harnesses (chyah05) and I would assume that would work but I would give them a shout before as the harness is $100+. If it were me Id save the money and relocate the radio.

i def. want to be able to play the dvd through the vehicle speakers...

have called pac-audio and other same type companies and none have anything...

ITS NOT SO MUCH OF A KEEPING THE POWER SUPPLY ON TO THE VES...

its more keeping the signal to the HU/ CarPc to play the VES through the speakers...

Another Idea would be to get a second video card andtake the factory monitor out of the housing and replace it with a vga monitor. Then you could watch video, view diaganostics, download porn or what ever else you want back there, There should also be a way to switch audio source as well.
