Velcro for Sub Enclosure
Hi, I have a sub in a sealed enclosure in the trunk of my 95' honda accord, and I don't have the enclosure secured yet. People have recommended I use velcro, but I have no idea where to get it. Does anyone know where to get this type of velcro?
Thanks in advance.

You can get 2" wide strips of Velcro at places like Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, but honestly I wouldn't recommend it. I have some serious doubts about it's ability to hold a woofer in place during sudden stops, etc. I have used it to secure things like a graphic equalizer to a carpeted panel, but then that only weighs about a pound.

I'd recommend something more than velcro.

Velcro isn't going to secure a sub enclosure, not in the least.
L brackets or the like would be your best bet.

Even if it's custom molded to the corner of your trunk? If that makes any sense at all.

Do you want to rish that sub box coming loose at all?
Do what you want, but I suggest some L-brackets to secure it in place.

Just because it's custom molded to an area doesn't make it any less likely to come loose and fly around in an accident. If it's custom molded then securing it should have been thought about when building the enclosure.
For instance, when we made the sub enclosure for the Gti we made sure we were able to bolt it to the car in 3 places...
It's thinking ahead that gets you out of jams in fabrication like this.

Staples also sells the 2 inch wide velcro in rolls. But I would suggest getting the bungie cord hooks they secure it tightly. But I mean if you dont want the cords visible then the velcro seams like an decent idea. They sell those at most auto parts stores or other places. Usually the weight of the box is enough to hold the box from moving much at all and the velcro will just reinforce it from sliding.

velcro and bungie straps are NOT suitable methods to tie down or secure a sub enclosure.

I wouldn't risk it either. I've just heard of people that don't anchor their custom boxes because they're a snug fit.

You can use velcro........you would be surprised how strong it is!
Just as long as you cover the entire sub floor and wherever else it comes into contact with the carpet, you will be fine!

i dont care how strong the velcro is it will not be as effective then screwing it down. safety should be priority number 1 when installing anything.

Did an install in my best friends 1999 Escort hatchback. Hit a pole, the sub box broke through the back seat (fold down seat, steal back.. similar to Jan's GTI). The power wire on the amp kept the box from scrambling his brain.
Not only that, if you don't want a thief to take it, you want to bolt it down.
