Different equipment. I hate to be harsh but yeah Pyramid hits like that. That Pyramid amp is really about a 400-500 watt RMS amp. If you give us the model numbers of your equipment then we could probably give you some clues on how to get the most out of what you have

did you check the phase of your subs? i would guess that you may have one out of phase which would kill the output of your subs. and i doubt you are even making 400-500 peak. what are the fuses on the amp rated at?

pyramid amps are very low quality, have a rather inefficient power supply, and give crappy output...your best bet is to get another amplifier with a better name, like JL, USAMPS, Kicker, Niche, Rockford, HiFonics, etc... Stay away from Pyramid, Legacy, Pyle, Rockwood, Kenwood, Jensen, etc(the last 2 are the best of that list...and they still dont compare to any in the first list)

ALWAYS ignore the wattage numbers listed on the packaging and find the RMS wattage somewhere... Most manufacturers will list the PEAK wattage on the outside to grab your attention...it's just a marketing ploy...

400 to 500 watts RMS? Maybe 400 to 500 "car audio watts", but RMS power will be a lot less.

If this is a PB1000, the manual http://www.pyramidcaraudio.com/manua...-2200-2700.pdf says that the 4 ohm RMS output power per channel is, wait for it, 50 watts!!! and 70 watts into 2 ohms. But since this is Pyramid, the real power is probably even less. (Every Pyramid product I've had the misfortune to touch did not meet the specifications on the packaging or manual.)

Go back to the pawn shop or swap meet and look for something better. Look at the fuse rating: multiply the fuse amps by 12 and the RMS rating of the amp will be roughly half to 2/3 that.

yeah here's the info on that amp 50X2 just aint gonna cut it. I'm a huge MTX fan, but the other brands listed above all make good product too. to really get any worthwhile bass you're gonna spend a minimum 250 for the amp, better subs and a good box are also very important.

Uraijit is infamous around these parts
I*e owned a few pyramid amps in my day, and while they're not top quality, or even close. They are a good option for a starter amp. I bought a "2000 watt" pyramid amp when I was in high school, for 75 bucks shipped. RMS is only 75w per channel, x4 channels, that's about 300 watts RMS. 7 years later, I still have that amp, and plan on using it in my Tahoe for a few months until I recover from the money I'm dumping into installing two computers and audio systems in my Tahoe and my wife's civic. I will eventually replace the amp "and the cheap "legacy" subs, with some nicer stuff. But as a starter amp, or just something to use until you can afford to upgrade, Pyramids are the best deal I've ever seen.

Even a 300 watt amp for 75 bucks is a good deal. No matter what the "peak" rating on the box said...

There is much nicer stuff out there to be sure, but there's also much worse.

you have to qualify your statement at least. you can't just say 'end of story' what if he wanted pure sq? or pure spl? very hard to get both at the same time with the same equipment.
