HD radio in my BMW

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-V76QP9L...0744000&tp=134

the link above is of a hd reciver t I have been reading about that allows you to put hd radio as well as what I though was regular fm radio on our carpcs(finally!!)

but when I called to order it the person said that the reciver box or brain itself does not pick up fm radio waves and must be hooked up through a reciever. Is this corret or not? I am posting because you guys are the experts. how would I hook it up if this person is wrong?

I think thier support personel need to read thier own page:

Reception Modes: Along with HD Radio digital transmissions, the DMHD1000 receives analog AM and FM stations, as well as RDS (Radio Data System) information.

How's the receptoion on regular radio?

My videon HDZ300 is in the mail and I was wondering how it compares to a regular head unit for radio reception? Static-y? clear? Weak? Etc...............
