Need help with a 2001 surburban!?!

Ok i am normally good at installing amps and subs into a vehicle but this is giving me trouble. I was wondering if there was any way of bypassing the factory amp to be able to hear sound threw my speakers because my head unit is too powerful for the factory amp. It will play and all speakers work until i turn the music up and then my subs will make the factory amp cut off but my subs will still work! I already know of the pac and stuff but I want to avoid that because i don't care about the onstar!!!!! Please help me out thank you!!!!
