03-07 Honda Accord Carputer/Car Audio Question.

I am trying to build a carputer around my stock stereo because due to the design of the radio it is un-aesthetically pleasing to remove it. Secondly, I want the stock radio to be the main volume button and aside from that I will still like to retain the radio functionality.
My goal is to have an after market system that looks like it came directly from the car manufacture.

For those with Honda Accords know that the Factory Radio has an Auxiliary input for CD Changers, etc. So, with after market adapters such as but not limited to (USA Spec/SHOND3/Soundgate/ETC) it can be transformed to accept Ipod inputs and other auxiliary inputs, also.

example here:
http://iaudiophile.net/e107_plugins/...php?content.35

However, there are several problems with after market adapters, they are unreasonably costly(especially for my application; $80+) and they have the ipod integration, which i do not need because my audio source will be coming from the Carputer.

All suggestions and comments are welcomed. =)

From the page you linked to:

I know the Soundgate will not allow you to control an iPod, as it is only a line in interface... http://www.soundgate.com/index.php?r...usereferrer=1&

So that's the one I'd be looking to buy. And I'd consider $80 to be an acceptable price, considering the limited market for such a product.

This is what I used in my 03 http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=8025 I was able to purchase it locally for ~65.00. I was told by several local shops this is the only adaptor they will run because they have had issues in the past with less expensive options. I have build a panel in the right rear corner of my car to house the severly modified laptop... The only thing that is visable is the fan from the trunk otherwise it looks factory. I will post pictures when I am finished with everything. Good luck!

Sure.
If you need only audio there are cheaper alternatives. Car2PC-HON1 also has control for car pc though...

Oh i c-- for Car2PC-HON1 does it allow for you to reconfigure the buttons on the stock head unit. Such as relabeling the buttons for a specific function for winamp or other audio/video programs?

Yes like you can set playlists of the stock headunit..

I have a Accord 07 and am using the car2pc adaptor it did work nice but I was only running it for 1 week and it stopped working. I must admit though indashpc was quick to give me a RMA number and I have sent the unit back for replacement. I will give it one more shot and see if it lasts longer than 1 week if not I may just get a refund and go with another option..

My current set up will be:

Stock head unit -> Indashpc-Hond -> Soundcard

The IndashPC unit does not have RCA inputs, however a Auxiliary male connector is provided.

My computer will be in my trunk, thus i will need to have a 17' AUX cord to reach the dash.

so, now my question is where can i find a quality 17' AUX extension cord?
