I think i blew my speakers...not sure
So I had my carpc working just fine for 2 years, but the mobo blew out, and in the midst of swapping mobo's, the connectors did that loud crackling when you first plug in audio cables. This happened a few times.
When i reinstalled my 10band EQ (webEQ), it worked fine, but randomly on a restart the top 3 frequencies were maxed out, and i played a full song before I realized it.
Now i hear crackling when playing about half my songs, and then all my songs sound hollow, as if some of the frequencies aren't there. Its more noticeable on my front speakers than my rear.
setup: 4channel alpine amp, 6.5" pioneer 4ways up front, 6x9" pioneers in the back.
I think the rear ones are less noticeable because I assume that larger speakers handle distortion and random wattage spikes better (but I only assume).
My friend told me that it could be bad wiring, but everything sounded fine for the last 2 years, and no problems till now. He said it could also be the amp, but I don't know, the fact that it was due to the wattage spike/high EQ setting...im not sure. I feel like its the speakers blown out.
Thats why i'm asking you guys, who deal with speakers and installs much more than I do. What do you guys think? I'm gonna use tester speakers and see how it works later this week, but I just wanted to get some advice from the pro's, Thank you.
