Rockford Fosgate or MTX??

I have an old school RF Power 1100a2 and MTX 81000D Mono D amplifier. Which is better to power my subwoofers?

I have (2) AudioPipe TXX-AP10W 10' subwoofers in a ported enclosure. Each speaker is rated at 1200W each, 4 ohm DVC.

MTX 81000D spec:
500 Watts RMS/CH x 1 into 4 Ohms <2% THD+N
1000 Watts RMS/CH x 1 into 2 Ohms <2% THD+N
1500 Watts Dynamic Power x 1 into 2 Ohms (14.4VDC)

RF Power 1100a2 amp:

Which amp should I use and how should I wire the speakers and amplifier?

I'd use the RF amp.

Wire each sub to 2ohm (voice coils in parallel) and then wire the subs in serries to the amp in bridged mode.

For the MTX with your subs, you only choices are running it at 1ohm or 4ohm. 4ohm will get you 500 rms and 1ohm introduces stability problems unless you mod the amp.

**Edit** Not sure why you're posting here since you got your answer a few days ago here:

I was looking for more advice. People have different views and experience. Notice how you said to connect them to each channel and some people have recommended keeping the subs in 4 Ohm and bridging it to the amp.

E.g. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/wo...s.asp?Q=2&I=42

are your subs 1200w rms or is that the max wattage?

The AudioPipe 10" TXX-AP10W are 600W RMS and 1200w MAX

RF Power 1100a2 manual: Click HERE

Amp review: Click HERE

I was thinking of the following...

1. Use the 4 Ohm load diagram and connect the 2 terminals by bridging to the amp.
4 Ohm diagram (bottom)

2. Wire the speakers to 2 Ohm and connect directly into each of the 2 channels of the amp.
2 Ohm diagram (top)

By doing so, wouldn't that bring me down to 1 Ohm?

No, it would give your 4ohm. For a 1ohm load you'd have to wire all in parallel.

What i said:

Is the same as this:

Excpet they decided to wire the coils in series and the subs in parallel, instead of the coils in parallel and the subs in series. Either way you get the same result: 4ohm mono load at the amp.

Thanks a alot for your help Pokki! I can't wait to get my groove back! I was very disappointed after I blew my 10" L7's!

Hopefully I get my car back next week. It's been at the Honda dealership for 1.5 months now. Apparently they cannot diagnose the "car jerking" problem. I even removed my CarPC, due to them pointing to it as a possible cause.
