first carputer
i am not looking for a full custom install, but i was looking at the "stage 3 car computer full package deal" in the mp3 store. if i get this package is this everything i need to have a working carputer? can i connect my existing stereo to this unit. that is everything in my vehicle(amps, speakers and subs) not including the HU i have now. i read about somthing needed to power the computer down when you shut off the vehicle, does this unit come ready or do i need anything extra? i am happy with my current Eclipse HU but i just saw a video for the Street Deck program and that alone made me want a carputer. if i can buy this package plus the street deck software then thats cool but i am really not interested in having to design some crazy setup, as i have already done that with the one i have now. any help is great. thanks in advance.

I'm going to move this thread to the Car Audio forum, as the questions you're asking aren't really specific to the mp3car.com product you're considering.
That said, I highly suggest reading the FAQs that have been compiled, as they will answer a lot of your questions. There is information there about connecting your PC to your audio system in various ways.
Oh, and welcome to our madness.

You never found that link, did you? Why? It's hard to find in the NavBar across the top of the forums, amongst a lot of other crap.
TELL MP3CAR YOU WANT A LINK TO THE FAQ IN A MORE OBVIOUS, NOTICABLE LOCATION HERE.

The complete solution does not include a front end (like StreetDeck) you would have to purchase that software.
The unit comes with a DC-DC smart PSU to take care of power up and power down.

The description says:
" This completed Car PC System comes with a Xenarc 7" IN-DASH Touchscreen VGA Monitor, Jetway VIA C7 2.0GHz Mini-ITX Motherboard, M2-ATX automotive power supply, VoomPC-2 Enclosure, Kingston 1GB DDR2 Memory, 120GB SATA 2.5" Hard Drive, SPEC Research USB Wired Keyboard/Mouse, AMPLIFIER INSTALLATION KIT and CD-RW/DVD Slim Combo Drive. This Car PC System comes pre-assembled and tested. All you need is to install your own Operating System and Car PC Software."
Looks complete to me.

Not sarcasm (text is more difficult to tell tone than verbal)
Welcome to the board. Where are you going to put that case? (I have an 02 suburban)

i dont know yet i havent measure or looked to find a spot yet. there should be sufficient space under the second row seats. i am putting two 15" orion HCCA's in the back and i dont want the computer right there with the subs. as much as i dont want to get involved in an elaborate install, i can see it happening, lol.

The 02 has space under the front console/dash.... you might look at that.

my truck does not have the center console, my truck has a 60/40 split front seat so the space on the floor between the driver and passenger there is nothing.

what about in front of the seat and up to the firewall (under the dash)
They make several trim packages, I have not seen that one.
